  1. I think I will definitely setup a small planted tank and test them. Don't want to risk infecting my 450L with a bunch of snails that I can't get rid of
  2. How do the Red Ramshorn stay in a controlled population and not just explode like trumpets?
  3. Hmm... I like the look of those red ramshorn! I might set up a small tank and put some plants in it etc and see how the snails go.
  4. I know next to nothing about the types of aquatic snails out there. What are some plant friendly ones that dine on algae? What are the disadvantages of keeping snails? Advantages?
  5. Cool. What is the red one? Red melon? Diamond?
  6. Yeah it's always possible that one of them is infertile, if not both. Those are some nice looking fish you have there!
  7. Might be worth putting a sticky of this stocking tool in the beginners section or something eh?
  8. I bought them both about a year ago from the same tank. I'm pretty sure they are both males. Haven't had any spawnings and my sister had some and they went nuts in our rain water. I copied her conditions and everything to the T but no luck. Also the finnage really leads me to believe they're both males.
  9. I wouldn't worry about damage to the fish, but those eggs are going to be Bristlenose food.
  10. I've got a rio 400. First thing I did was remove the internal filter and replaced it with a canister filter. Next thing I did was buy a jager heater as my juwel one is faulty and currently being replaced. Other than that though the tanks are great. They look good in a public area, mainly why I went with Juwel. My sister on the other hand has a rio 240 and she's been running it for a month and a bit and she's cleaned the filter out once, and just rinsed some of the media. Hasn't replaced anything and her sterbai cory are still breeding so can't be too bad. **EDIT** Oh as far as lighting goes my tank came with 2x nature and 2x day (juwel brand) when I have to replace the tubes though I'll be getting 2x colour instead of nature. **EDIT2** Seeings you only have 2 tubes in your tank I'd go with 1x colour and 1x day. But you can probably find cheaper tubes from a hardware store or something.
  11. I was going to feed colourbits along with some flake, just adding to the variety?
  12. What is a high quality flake food suitable for discus?
  13. Awesome I'll grab some peat next time I setup some cultures . Thanks for the info guys.
  14. Does it matter what kind of dirt you use for a culture of whiteworms? Do ferts in the soil cause problems for fish? I currently have a culture in a bucket with some random potting mix that I can't remember what it is or what it has in it. I started some other cultures using organic compost, does compost work? Dangers to fish?
  15. You don't want that smell in your fridge haha! After a little while the culture starts to smell very ripe!
  16. I'm going to get 2x Blue Diamond, 2x Red Golden Melon, 2x Albino Leopard Snake Skin That way I have some red some blue and some white (ish with patterns) . I can't wait my new 5 foot is just sitting here waiting haha.
  17. If you had a large tank.. lets say.. 8 foot. and you released some guppys in it lets say 10. Would the turtle search em out and chomp em all at once or would he realise he's full and just ignore the left overs?
  18. Added in lighting and ferts etc.
  19. 20. I have two fish that were sold to me as Blue Rams. Do you think they are blue rams? Also what gender? Fish One: This one seems to resemble a female blue ram (pink bellie) but the dorsal fin is pointed at the end instead of rounded...? Fish Two: This one has a lot less black on it... and it has the pointed dosal fin (indicative of a male right?) Wondering if it might be a golden ram x blue ram?
  21. Through my recent research into turtle care I've come across a very informative PDF for general care of Australian turtles. You have to register to the forum to access it. Here it is http://www.australianfreshwaterturtles. ... php?t=3383
  22. If you like dota you should check out HoN http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/ it's basically dota except on a whole new game engine (as opposed to the WC3 engine) which means tons better graphics and just more customizable game play. I have 3 beta keys if anyone is interested
  23. Oh that would be awesome if you could ask! The area I need to cover is 1510mm x 520mm.
