  1. and the bigger though he is about the same length he is much more full bodied.
  2. went to the lfs last weekend for a piece of polystyrene and came home with 2 tiny clown loaches. One is just small, the other is small and very skinny. My 29 gall (36x15x15 inch) tank is underpopulated and well planted so thought...........anyway both are eating well and the skinny one has a rounded tummy now. Haven't had clowns before so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thought that by the time they need more roomy accomodation I should have a bigger tank.........................well I don't really need the piano. sue
  3. Welcome Mollyman......................................from northland  sue
  4. that's really awesome nc - a baby awwww cute how big was it and did it already have the cory shape? sue
  5. hi Polgara have you tested your water yet to see if any ammonia/nitrite present? From what I can gather slowly raising the temp of the tank to 28 - 30 degrees will help to speed the white spot cycle......do it slowly though. Combine this with increased aeration, daily w/changes and good gravel cleaning helps get rid of the cysts once they have left the fish. BTW did you take the carbon out of your filter ........if you have any in there? hope you had a good xmas (cept for the fishies :-? ) sue

  8. hi EVLGTZ and welcome I use aquaclear filters (hang on the back) in my tanks and find them reliable, very easy to clean and maintain. Haven't had any experience with canisters so can't comment on them. sue
  9. hi paddy_whack - is this a new behaviour with your neons or have they always done it when you've fed them? How long after feeding does their behaviour go back to normal? Every few days my neons get a break from flake with defrosted daphnia - I buy it frozen, break a small amount off and defrost then squirt it into the tank and they have a ball ......it would be even better with live daphnia ( they often beat the guppies to the mossie larvae) but only have the frozen available sue
  10. update on the babies - I generally leave the fry in a 5 gall tank with the parents (end up with 20 - 40 fish for the lfs which is more than enough for my tanks) - but this time.....both parents are very young - yesturday ended up moving firstly the male (relentlessly pursuing the female) then later in the day taking the female out as she was sampling a few to many of the fry  There must be something in the water cos this morning Blossum and Billy - the albino cories - were up and down the glass and tonight have a lovely batch of eggs plastered all over the tank  a few look to be infertile but I'll be in trouble if they hatch in a little tank that is already home to a swarm of baby guppies
  11. hi there n. chic - what is happening with your guppy female? Have had a quick look through my guppy books to see if they have any answers, nothing obvious yet but will look again later when I get home. sue

  18. hi got these 2 little cuties from the lfs - they said they were 'zodiac loaches' :-? never heard of them - but Caryl thinks they are mesonemachelus triangularis - is there a common name? They are really inquistative little fish and zip round the tank ferreting into all the cracks and crevises. sue

    Eggs again :)

thanks Bruce and Alan - the only other tank available is the 10 gallon (18x12x12) and thought that might be a bit small for them ...... unless.... That is how I ended up getting a 29 gall tank last time - sue
  20. couple of questions count - when did you get the new fishes, how big is the tank, how many fish and have you tested your tank to see if anything is out of kilter? thanks - sue
  21. thank you Cees - cool - a place to talk about our favourite catfish..........my own personal favourite is.....'Blossum' my original albino aeneus cory who managed to survive through all my mistakes in setting up my first tank. I've had her and her friend 'Billy' for 4 yrs now - she regularly lays eggs all over the glass in the tank, their favourite food....bloodworms and dried tubifex - which Blossum eats out of my fingers.
  22. coooooool  congratulations...........how big are the babies cat? sue
