  1. hi there fish tank welcome......nice to meet you in chat tonight sue
  2. not sure chris.............if all goes well I'll be able to tell you later in the year  I've got mine in with cories - they are ok with them but apparently when they have fry they can be extremely territorial. I chose the 2 I've got because they had paired up in the lfs - the male was the palest in the tank but he was 'the chosen one' - have only had them a short while but spend hours watching them - cool fish sue
  3. thanks frenchy I've read all about them but it's so different when it happens in your own tank............what fascinating little fishes they are sue
  4. went to the lfs and came home with a couple of little kribensis a few weeks ago, they live in a 24x12x12 inch tank ( brought for my growing on guppies) abode.....Krib Kastle. Noticed today that the male has developed a splendid rosey glow and the little fem's pot belly is not quite so potty.........and they are guarding the castle with a passion! I think things might be happening at Krib Kastle How long before I could expect developments (if they happen)? thanks - sue 'Krib Kastle'
  5. congratulations ....... can't wait to see the pics just love baby photos sue

    brown algae?

how long has the tank been set up for EVLGTZ? sue
  7. talk about the antics at feeding time tonight ......the clowns, the zebras and the new polkadots doing headstands and backflips round the tank...no-one else even got a look in  maybe we'll start the veges tomorrow........ .....I think the skinny one is more like a Miss Piggy than a Thunderbird 2 sue
  8. praps he's just got big bones  am definately cutting back on the heavy bloodworm feeding regime I had going........the loaches are not happy about this either  ........and am going to start giving them a vege only day soon sue

    Who I am :)

 bob neon................now that explains a lot...........separated at birth. Poor harry - no wonder he is more than a little odd - even though he lives with 5 other neons he thinks he is a guppy and hangs out with them................perhaps it's some sort of seperation anxiety syndrome  post more pics please sue

    Who I am :)

hiya binkles  welcome  ...............hey your bob looks an awful lot like my harry.............wonder if they are related? lovely pics - sue
  11. not sure about kribs frenchy have read that the pH does influence the ratio of males/females born. With a higher pH there is supposedly a higher ratio of females and lower e.g 6.5 you get relatively equal male/female offspring. Over the last 4 yrs I've had this with my guppies getting slightly more males than fems. I am on rainwater and have slightly acid pH. Have just got a pair of kribs so it'll be interesting if they breed to see what happens sue
  12. the kids are a month old and some have been moved into one of the bigger tanks as it was getting a little overcrowded in the 5 gall. They look like guppies now.........still small but getting colour, mostly sexable and they certainly behave like miniature adults sue
  13. hi TeeCee the albino cories are awesome fish aren't they - - what sort of substrate have you got in the tank? sue
  14. hiya Josy - welcome You can't go wrong then - Caryl showed me how to find my way around when I first started and now......................... can't shut me up  get her to show you the chat room too - some of us meet there most nights at about 9pm - would be lovely to see you there sue
  15. hi and welcome TeeCee we have a regular chat going in the chat room most nights at about or just after 9pm - love to see you there sue
  16. and his friend - they'd just had a feed of bloodworms
  17. thanks fee - I wouldn't have thought of worming fish. I'm not sure if I need to though as in the last 10 days they have both gained a lot of condition and it's now sometimes difficult to tell which is the 'skinny' one - should I go ahead and worm anyway? sue - this is the skinny one now
  18. update on the loaches. They are doing ok, feeding well. The skinny one is still thin but looking better - just have to make sure I put the food in several places in the tank as I have 2 B.striata in there that tend to chase the little one away. At this point until he gains weight am feeding them twice daily with a variety of different foods and doing regular gravel cleans to compensate as I am probably overfeeding. sue
  19. welcome phyrestaata  - your tank sounds lovely....and you have certainly come to the right place to talk about fishy things. Some of us meet in the chat room most nights at about 9pm - come join us if you can sue
  20. hiya Logan if you have a load of plants in the tank a few of the fry may survive but if they are in a community tank it is difficult to save very many. Some people use breeding nets/traps to put the female in when she is due to give birth, then raise the fry in the net till they are too big to eat - I use a small tank (5gall) for my fry - then transfer them into the bigger tanks when they are older sue
  21. thanks - am keeping a very close eye on them as they were very stressed when I bought them. They have both developed a much richer colour in the last few days. Have been feeding bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp and spirulena pellets (they're not much interested in the flake foods) They really do seem to like all the hidey holes that are in the tank and come out and play in the current from the filters. sue
  22. hiya Logan yep guppies will breed most places - but not many of the fry will probably survive in a community tank - when they are first born they're small enough for most fish to think they are a lovely snack.......... what sort of filtration and how long/wide is the tank you are wanting to add the guppies to - imo your 60 litre tank could be getting a bit overcrowded without adding any more - especially when the clown loaches grow. sue
