  1. Tut! Tut! Luring innocent driftwood with alcohol! Caryl, I'm shocked! On the other hand, am glad no innocent driftwood was harmed in the making of the mockumentary! ROFL..............that is gorgeous. Hope you're going to put it into the next AW so everyone can have a giggle. Looks like you all had a great time. sue

  10. Never had a problem with my neons funkyfish and they're in with guppies (they don't even seem to eat many of the new fry) Bettas can be unpredictable and aggressive to other fish in their tank......they all have different personalities. Does the cory have somewhere to shelter in the tank i.e a cave, pipe, somewhere the betta can't see him/get him cornered. Fish are fine with one eye though your little cory is not going to be able to protect himself and will be more vulnerable now, especially on the blindside. Watch the fish and see if you can see who is chasing whom......long term you may need to separate the chaser out into a different tank. I don't medicate unless I need to .....if the eye socket looks ok I'd be checking him daily, making sure the water quality was good, providing loads of places for him to hang out (extra plants/ornaments) and feeding high quality diet (adding live/frozen foods to his normal diet) Good luck with the cory and let us know how you get on sue
  11. What settings have you tried for the fish pics? We all have probs to start off but if you just keep taking pics you get better at it, and the joy of digi is that you can delete them all  Prefocus on a piece of driftwood, the plants, the gravel......the fish are often too small or move to fast for the camera to focus properly on. Use the flash but angle yourself slightly so the flash doesn't show in the pic. Daytime photos are often difficult as there is too much light reflecting on the glass. Try macro or manual settings with slightly higher aperature (f no) and shutter speed. Most important bit of advice though is to take heaps of pics and eventually you get better ones. sue
  12. They're lovely Peter, the last one's very unusual. Don't think I've ever seen a guppy that colour before. What colour do you call him and could you post another view of him? thanks sue
  13. I'd love to see some more pics of your guppies Peter sue
  14. Congrats .....looking forward to the pics of them
  15. hi Peter Caryl's done a thread here about posting pics. I use photobucket.com (just put the http bit in front of that) for hosting a lot of my pics. to get thumbnails into the forum 1. Open 2 windows. One on the reply notepad, one on the full size pic you have hosted on the web eg at photobucket or somewhere. 2. Reply notepad, click on the url box above. Replace the ] with = looks like 3. Reply pad click on Img. Go back to your pic (other window) and return to your page of pics all in thumbnail size. Right click on the image you want and select properties. Cut and paste the url of that. 4. Paste that into the reply notepad 5 Click on url above again. This should bring the 2nd img and url tags onto your reply. With gaps, just take them out [ url = full size pic url ] [ img ] url from the properties box of the image thumbnail (right click on inage thumbnail) [ /img ] [ / url ] sounds fiddly but doesn't take long once you've done it a couple of times and it's a blessing for those of us on dialup pm me if this doesn't make sense  sue

  18. Just wondering how big the tank is (how many litres/galls) and how many fish Mechtiger?
  19. Hi Judy Answer 1. Nope ......definitely not a nuisance how can you find out the answers if you don't ask we were all beginners in the beginning  You're going to be a great fishkeeper.......you're curious, you want to know! So go ahead and ask away Answer 2. Sometimes if you have too many topics in one post people replying will focus on one issue, the others don't get addressed. I'd keep it to one, maybe 2 topics per post......... you should get complete answers that way sue
  20. Got my copy of the AW and the Yearbook yesturday Caryl. A great read .......thankyou sue
  21. How many now Alan?.................................... tanks!!! sue
  22. Hi Jude When you're first starting out it gets very confusing as to what you do need and what you get told you need! (I went through bottles of stuff I'd been assured by the local store I must have till I knew better  ) However, I found the ammonia and nitrite kits very useful ......meant I had a better idea of what was happening in the tanks until I knew a bit more about my fish and their behaviours. Other option is of course to take water into the lfs and get it tested there. By knowing if you have ammonia/nitrite present you'll know if you need to do more w/changes, and where in the cycle your tank is. I think I read you had an ugf, do you have any other filtration in the tank? Is the tank planted, and it would help if you could give us an idea of the no of fish you've got. it's very addictive this fishy business..........one tank very quickly turns into 2 sue
  23. Thanks for sharing those pics of your tanks Ballistic......good to see them. Lovely looking rams sue
