  5. congratulations Nick - how many babies in what size tank? what do you have available? Ideally you can feed microworms and baby brine shrimp....realistically you can feed the liquid egg layers fry food, very finely ground flake (into very fine dust) Depending on the number of babies you need to do small w/changes often - the frequency of feeding and the leftover fry food fouls the water quickly and the babies are more sensitive to poor water quality. good luck with them sue
  6. Just got the latest copy of the Aquarium World. What an interesting magazine it is.....full of articles, photos and ideas - thankyou sue
  7. cool....that's a reasonable number of surviving fry Ira. What's the plant in the tank? don't think I've seen that in the lfs up here? sue

    One eyed Discus

hiya mouse Sorry to hear about your pigeon discus. .....hey have you tested your pH in the tank recently? I was reading about a pH crash sending fish into a total panic type behaviour. Friend of mine has a one-eyed cichlid and he has no problems in the tank.....she just makes sure that there's nothing aggro in there with him. good luck sue

  15. awesome photos caryl .....love to see some more sue
  16. is he eating morz? If you can separate him from the other fish and feed him little and often .....he may eat frozen bloodworms if he's not interested in other things and let us know how he's doing sue
  17. hi Mousiekm - welcome to the forum check out planaria on the net......imo that's what that sounds like. they're a flat white worm that seems to appear when the tank is a little overfed. Some fish eat them but most don't seem interested. Increase the water changes and do a few thorough gravel cleans with the siphon .....and watch how much you are feeding the fish and turtle. I've had them in my fry tanks when I've been a little overenthusiastic with the fry food.....they didn't seem to do any harm to the fish and disappeared once I stopped overfeeding take care sue
  18. that's really awesome inter...congratulations sue

    photo's

hiya doch...welcome to the forum what sort of camera did you get? I use the macro setting on mine. If you're going to use the flash make sure you're on an angle then you won't get flash reflection on the glass If you're taking pics in the daytime be careful of the amount of daylight on the glass......it reflects the surroundings like a mirror. Clean the glass before you start....nothing worse than taking a really cool pic and finding water marks on it Clean the algae off the inside of the tank before you start ....it shows in the pics good luck sue
  20. Congratulations Ira.....keep us posted sue
  21. hi Dave you should feel right at home here among the rest of us fishoholics  doesn't seem to take long for the tanks to start breeding does it sue
  22. hi there richie had this problem with my 29 gall tank too.....added another filter as I was only running one aquaclear 150 and it seems to have sorted the problem. I do twice weekly smaller w/changes in there as there's a lot of bottom feeders who are more comfortable with the substrate being ultraclean sue

  24. don't know what you guys are talking about ......I don't have MTS...........I just have ummmmm  a few fish tanks sue  ....... :-? 5 is NOT MTS ..............................is it?
  25. they're available occassionally up here in Whangarei too.....have had a couple in the tank for the last yr - very inoffensive little characters .....look very much like a bit of dead leaf ...till you put some frozen bloodworms into the tank and then they're off.......hovering round - totally ignoring the other fish in pursuit of their favourite food sue
