  1. If you have silver eyes and you have a cat I guarantee your cat will catch one before it catches a sparrow or blackbird... But seen as your cat is physically impaired.. Maybe not..
  2. SamH. Has your cat ever killed a Silvereye? They are classed as native and am sure the majority of cats has killed a few in their lifetime...
  3. The majority of our native birds are defenseless against cats. For many centuries they have lived here with very few predators to fear, possibly the NZ Falcon being the most common predator. Therefore our birds are more susceptible to attack as they are more docile, often eating low to the ground where they can readily be attacked... Register all cats and use the money to protect and preserve existing native bush and their inhabitants. (Would prefer to see them all gone but don't think this is realistic)
  4. The blue apisto is the commercial name for trifasciata... Apisto steel blue are commonly but incorrectly labeled as borelli.
  5. Looking good mate! Look to be thriving
  6. Thought I had no females remaining but.... have eggs as of today
  7. Just wondering if anyone off here has purchased any of these new imports? If so what are they like? Pics please. Cheers Dan
  8. Good work mate! Mine were successful on their second spawn. They should be hardier than their parents which subsequently died. Good luck
  9. Cheers Jamie. Will enquire.
  10. Have some males showing colour and some not... could be females hopefully
  11. Spot on Livingart. Shags can clean out a pond very quickly.
  12. Nice fish.... saw some of the Agassizi at LFS nicer than the last lot we had.... If only I had more tanks
  13. He is looking great Joe. Definitely a great specimen
  14. Nice fish Terry. My first spawn got eaten after I tried removing the fungus eggs. The 2nd spawn hatched and are all good, growing alot faster than the Apistogramma fry. Mine are in a specific tank so no risk of getting eaten. Will post some pics soon.
  15. Here is a pic of a male that I sold as a juvenile to a women down south... It is unusual in that it is Yellow. I like it. What do you guys think?
  16. He is a beaut Joe! Thanks for sharing.
  17. If you really want to raise these I would set them up in their own tank.. The parents will have a hard time trying to keep the tetras and others picking off the fry.
  18. Cool! Nice looking rams. If it is their first spawning don't be too disappointed if they eat them.. They usually get better with practice. Watch for eggs that turn white and fungus, which can spread to the health eggs. (The adults will often pick these out). What other fish do you have in the tank?
