    i reckon a tank that big go with the biggest fish you can find like frontosa malawi eyebiters and livingstonii or giraffes maybe a few kadango then some synodontis for bottom dwellers
  6. i reckon durso or herbie overflow as it will cost less for plunbing main reason behind my thinking is a wee bit of noise aint gunna hurt as it wont be in your lounge will it

  8. you could extend the season of an outdoor pond by using coiled alkathene on a roof and pumping the water thru it to heat it

  10. i seen a corner bath once with 40cm high glass panels attached all the way around the top so you could fill it up and see in there i dont know what it was used for but i had some ideas . ive kept guppies and barbs in a pond over summer they come back out with amazing colours but i think that has more to do with the live food than sunlight
  11. i didnt feel the one today as i was out side but we mowed our lawns on friday and discovered a 6m long crack in the ground we didnt know was there the grass was nearly 2 foot high over it lucky no went walks over that part of our property

  13. jager are known to be the best another problem however you mite find as we get in to summer is that your tank overheats having an open top like you do will help- as evaporation slightly cools the water fans mite be needed

    Sand type

    that looks reasonably uniform in particle size river sand has a whole range of sizes from very fine dust right up to large gravel so would need to be seived or something to get that look

  19. have a look in terra viva in wairakei road they have a few for sale i like star jasmine as a bonsai but perhaps if you are looking for an easy care bonsai that requires no wiring get a crassula aboresens http://www.bonsai4me.com/SpeciesGuide/Crassula.html you should be able to pick up a small plant for less than $5 or get a cutting off someone there is also a varigated variety availible but the original with dark green leaves looks very nice
  20. perhaps make a full length spray bar out of pvc pipe and connect a cannister to each end
  21. will look nice make corals appear to flourecse . but for a fowlr its only useful for veiwing
  22. will your gas water heating unit work without power? ours wont
