thanks guys i had a feeling it may be simple like that. ive kept native seahorses before(when i was a kid an didnt even know what a skimmer was!) im fascinated by them and would look to breed them as id have more patience raising fry now im not looking at it in the near future as i need to get my reef cube sorted better but possibly at the end of next year as funds permit i was thinking of also plumbing a another tank in to keep a predatory fish like some kind of angler fish as well and using t5s also to use the predator tank as frag tank to help fellow reefers out and grow on some frags

in your opiion reef? would it be feasible/possible to plumb a tall tank into an existing reef setup using same sump and skimmer, but lower flow and suitible decor to keep seahorses/pipefishes?
  8. i get aussies ringing me telling me about a deal where i get cheap as flights and accommodation and all they need is my credit card !! all they get is a stream of obscenities worse than you would wish on your worst enemies and worse than you have ever seen on an internet forum then using caller id i ring them collect and abuse them again( they typically always answer)

  16. it probably ate the butterflies :nilly:
  17. i guess to begin with you wont need a quarentine tank but down the track anything would do a simple 2foot tank would be fine you wont need lights and you can get away without a skimmer if you do good waterchanges when there is fish in it
  18. well the tunze ones (some of them the more expensive ones are dc powered and can safely be switched on and off quickly by a controller (also expensive) this can make a surge in the water happen a special model is used in a wavebox heres a link to how it works http://www.marinedepot.com/wavemakers_t ... on-ap.html the other cool thing about them is they can be turned up and down in power not just on and off probably no good at all for what you are doing now but useful for a reef tank in simulating wave movement also more feedback on the sunsun its quiet some of the other cheap wavemakers i have brought are noisy the sun sun can also use a magnat mount so it mounts to your tank like magnet cleaner (i think they ripped this idea off tunze possibly anyway)
  19. yeah putting these on a timer isnt a great idea. but i think it will be fine for what henward wants it for
