    Shindig

I think it needs to be in Wellington!
  2. And some ugly person on the other side of the tank staring at you!
  3. Oh...That sounds like it'll be a pain in the butt too.
  4. You're going to have one hell of a time reaching anything at the far end of the tank if you're only going to have access from the side.

    To hot to handle

Might be worth looking into a good heatpump. Good efficient heating in the winter and cooling in the summer.
  6. I think it's hans the hedgehog wearing a gasmask.
  7. Looks like an undersized cray to me, Feelers. What's the fine for that, $50K and confiscation of any equipment used in the crime?
  8. I've always thought that the backing was only a concern if the tank's contents are too boring to keep your attention. So, most of my tanks have no backing at all.

    ghost/glass shrimp

Some do. Some fish just aren't big enough to eat the bigger shrimp. Like my basslett for example. Tiny shrimp end up a bulge in his stomach. Anything over an inch, inch and a half or so survive just fine...Well, maybe lose the occasional antenna.

    Perfect Snail

Yeah, there's a snail latin name Nitratii Testikiticus. It usually tells you when it's time to do a water change by its color.
  11. I didn't know you had any pictures of my tank? Feel free to put it up then.
  12. Early hours being 5pm when all the shops close so I can't get what I need. Stupid useless NZ businesses.
  13. What I need is 4 day weekends every week. Give me time to do this kinda stuff.
  14. Increase the airation and see if it helps?
  15. The air valves on my durso are FAR from silent. Someday I'll get around to trying something else...

    tank colour.

Here's a black background... I'm not really sure I'd like a blue background...Maybe a very dark blue. Seems pretty overpowering a light(Marine) blue.
  17. Some urchins probably could to. But for the most part any injury you get in the tank it's more the cut or puncture you need to worry about. I suppose if you accidentally got a bad cut and then rubbed some zoanthids in the cut you might get a dose of palyotoxin... Oh, some nudibranchs are nasty too.
  18. You can't control the speed of most powerheads. Not easily anyway, Possibly if you could change the frequency of the AC power going to them that would drop the speed, but if you just decrease the voltage it doesn't really work properly.

    pleco!

I was actually thinking about that, Mystic. Drop him off at someone's house with some algae to babysit for a little while and see if he recovers. I'll talk to the girly about it...
  20. My hammer coral HAS stung me...On the back of my fingers when I've bumped it. Guess it takes some good force and a spot with thin skin. Not really painful though, more irritating. I can't be bothered with gloves.

    pleco!

I'm having a problem in my 440L tank, my redspot seems to be eating all the food and not leaving any for my golden plec. I'm not sure what to do with him to get him some more food, he just isn't competing with the others enough to get any and I don't have any other tanks that he might go well in.
  22. Most places normally charge around $30 a hole? Or you could try what someone here suggested, drill the hole with a drill, a wood hole bit and some grinding powder or whatever it was.
  23. Just give it a rinse and throw it in, unless it has a massive amount of shells in it you're not going to even be able to detect the difference.

    H. Crispa

So you think the tan speckles are defintitely zoox, not dying patches? Woohoo!
