  1. Peter at Port Nicholson Glass. You'll have to look in the phone book or on yellowpages.co.nz for the company's phone number as we're not allowed to post it on the board.
  2. How much for a normal clown and a black permanent marker?
  3. Push the flake underwater before letting go of it. Then it will immediately sink.
  4. Anyone know if bulb holders in an arcadia professional deluxe 250 MH pendant would be a standard unit? Where would I get them? Any ideas how much they might be? I've bent up the metal connections inside them so badly I doubt I'll be able to get any new bulbs in. Last time I tried I couldn't figure out how to get the connections out so I could try and bend them back into the right shape(Maybe it is possible?) so I think I'll need to replace them.
  5. They're really easy to get. You get one around every brand new heater. No other way to get them.
  6. I wouldn't call that plenty of room to grow given that they grow 12-16" long...They'll outgrow the tank in a year, maybe two.
  7. Heh, I did that too with one of mine. They seem to work just fine with a broken shaft though.

Even the shrimps don't seem to last indefinitely, for me at least.

    Anemone doctor

What I've wondered isn't feeding the anemone another one's tentacle, but what about taking the tentacle, grinding it up and then putting it in a centrifuge to seperate the zoox. Then what would happen if you injected the purified zoox into a bleached anemone with a syringe?
  11. Hmmm, I have two 404s now that need entirely new heads. Looks like they're $120 for just a 104 head there. That's ok, I can get a powerhead to pump the water for $30.

    Oh No!!

Need to wait until further into summer when we can at least have a reasonable chance of being able to blob out in the backyard like last time. Odds now will be pretty low.
  13. Shouldn't add much bioload I wouldn't imagine, not immediately since it's just dead dry rock. I'll have to see how much debris it collects though.
  14. I picked up a heap of coral fingers off Jude(Thanks Jude!) and was thinking I might put them all in the return section of my sump where the water drops in from the overflow. Any pros or cons for this? I was thinking it might collect quite a bit of debris which would be bad obviously. I think I've got just about enough to fill it up to the top.

    Fish and flush

  16. I'm too cheap for a dosing pump or calcium reactor.
  17. I think half price is a very reasonable place to start from. Then adjust from there depending on age, condition, etc.

    Flow rates?

22mm will flow far more than that pump will be flowing.

Ah...I just chucked a scrap of filter wool under the pump. Works great.

$40 each for float switches? I got mine for $20 each from a local electrical supply store. Unless prices have gone up since then.

    Thanks Reef!

What's included in the deadening kit? How much is it? Mine has a very noticable whistle from the venturi.

A relay is really easy to wire up. Just a few little connectors, a relay and base from Jaycar, a 12V transformer and a bit of hacking. Took me about 15 minutes to figure it out and get it wired up. My topoff is a float switch tripping a the relay that switches on an airpump to push the water out of a 25L container into the tank.
