  1. Where can i get a starter culture of Mircoworms, have heard they can be bought from lfs is this true? How may days before i can start harvesting from a culture?
  2. when I am catching my i get a sheet of clear plastic, the kind they use for over head projectors. then a stick it to the glass on the inside of my tank and gently chase them onto the plastic with my net then take the plastic out, just when you take the plastic out keep a net over the fish in case they decided to let go.

hi barrie i have a pair of GAE that i bought for the purpose of removing BBA in my tank and they are doing a great job. I Have also seen my ottos eating BBA.

  5. i have recently been moving a AR620T with water in it and i cracked the bottom i would to recommend movings it with any more then 15cm of water. It may seem like a lot of work to just shift it down the street but its better then a cracked tank.

    Intro

If you are after dwarf cichlids why not blue rams, then other community fish like rainbow treadfins and large schools of tetra are always cool.
  7. Thanks for the help. yes it is furry, so it is probably fungus, i have meth-blue might try that. What is furan2, how do i use it and where can i get it from?

    congo tetra

I have just seen some photos of these guys online and love them so just wanted to know if any one has them if they are allowed in New Zealand and where can i buy some.
  11. I believe you can but what you could do is get 2 X 200w or 2 X 300w heater...etc then you have redundancy if one fails.
  12. i had this pair in my com tank and they have laid afew times before, they are getting better parents each time. There tank should be set up in the next couple of weeks and ill put the rams in that, by them self.
  13. thanks afrikan, will keep you posted
  14. i know that the ram fry are tiny and that treadfins also have a small mouth but is it big enough to take a fry?
  15. thought that might be the case cheers Ryan
  16. i have recently got another bigger tank so i was thinking of giving the old AR 620 to my rams so they can happily breed. but i was also contemplating adding to the same tank 3 rummy nose and 3 rainbow treadfin (leftovers from another tank). thats the background, my question is that will the rummy nose and treadfin eat the ram eggs and/or fry?
  17. This is mystic's image fixed up for her. Check these links out: http://www.loaches.com/species-index/cl ... cracanthus http://www.loaches.com/articles/an-intr ... ping-botia
  18. My Cory's breed in my com tank, laid on the glass in the front top right corner of my tank then i just used a razor blade (Kids ask your parents first) to scrape the eggs off that glass. <-------- Out of the eggs pop this little guy
  19. yer the DOF (depth of field) is a bit limited but because the GAE was moving around a lot and the macro filter is basically a magnifying glass, there for camera shake got magnified also so i needed the extra shutter speed. I also tried using a flash but it washed the photo out, i could 1600 iso instead of 800 i suppose.
  20. Hay Barrie good choice in camera i love the 40d haven't tried the 400. also for a photo tank you think it would be possible to cut a glass strip 80mm wide? because i was thinking of dimensions around 300x300x80 mm. I have also got some more photos once again enjoy. Borneo Sucker Cardinal Paradise Finally i got one displaying Rainbow Threadfin Rainbow Threadfin
  21. Thanks for the complements everyone the camera i was using is a canon 40d with a 17-85 mm lens but i had another +10 macro lens/filter screwed into the front of the 17-85mm lens so over all it can focus down to 30mm. I have never used a photo tank, have thought about building one tho. Ok off to try and get one of them threadfins, it would be very cool to get one displaying.
  22. Just had a play with the new lens and thought i would share, and see what you all think? Golden Algae Eater My tank favorite Blue Ram Thought i would put in the picture of my community tanks new setup as well
