  1. Burn/Zane is allowed back here because why?????
  2. Totally. There are also several nurseries in NZ and on last check 2-3 websites dedicated to such plants. New Zealand even has its own native carnivorous plants. A really cool and interesting hobby but very time consuming and can occupy a lot of space.
  3. Try Trade Me and indeed the NCZP website. I currently have seeds of Drosera trinervia and Drosera binata.
  4. Cheers Mark, that's what I thought after a quick Google. Good fangs=Good bite...shivers.
  5. Yip that's the giant bugger. Thanks.
  6. Hey all, I'm sure the bug geeks will know what so here goes.....just got some wood in and had a red/pink spider crawling up my leg, outside lucky. It was quite large and looked similar to a white tail but has a slightly bigger abdomen, unfortunately because I have nerves of steel I reacted and pulverised it so photo is not possible. I'm convinced it's the slater (eatting) spider Dysdera crocata. Have seen them about the place before often under pot plants in the garden. Any insight will be appreciated.
  7. They were being sold on Trade Me some weeks ago....unless it was another?
  8. Probably not, if so I'm sure it would be only the older generation?
  9. I know people who translate Persian and Nepalese languages for NZ Immigration Services. Definitely the asian languages e.g. Mandarin, Cantonese etc would be worth a go, but bloody hard to learn.
  10. Amazing!! I was in disbelief and had to Google it, as one does, and was shocked to find that "English is the dominant and a de facto language, spoken by most New Zealanders, but is not an official language". I would love to see the actual figures per population of those who speak/sign both. I saw a clip on You Tube once that stated that the Chinese language would be the most spoken language in the world in the nearing future. It's a shame that I can't recall the title of the video, my previous flatmate showed me a few years ago. That's food for thought aye?
  11. How goes the venture? Any advances?
  12. The reason for this issue is because the person was using a remote device, Trade Me does not recognise that they have logged in and so will not update that on the users profile. They are looking to resolve this technical issue. Good to know.
  13. Oh the wonders of "auto-bid", unfortunately this was not the case with my experience and have yet to hear from the winner.
  14. How is it possible for someone to use the Buy Now function on Trade Me on the 14th of May when they have not logged in since the 12 of May? Ok, not a riddle but curious all the same. Any ideas?
  15. :dunno: I was young and naive perhaps? :slfg:
  16. :slfg: Yip got tons of that *Tick*
  17. Slowly getting back into planted aquarium after 1-2 years break and was wondering what people use for fert these days? I'm an "old school" Flourish Excel user, used in conjunction with a CO2 delivery system, but always looking for something new and different to try.
  18. Yeah had thought of that, though Winter in Auckland so no where as harsh as down your way, once germinated they will go to my warm fish room, where they will be put into a fish tank, empty of course +/- the use of a fish tank light. Trial and error
  19. Yip, found some older seeds I had stashed, like a squirrel, so thought to have a go...nothing to loose. I don't see why they won't germinate now before it gets cold?
  20. All planted and cover with good old glad-wrap to keep the soil warm and moist. Will move the seeds, when I'm home, to get sun all day long. See how it works out. Thanks again.
  21. WOW thanks man, will have ago tonight and plant a few and see how it goes. Thanks again. My "mother plant" is still producing and has new flower buds every week.
  22. Anyone know when the best season to plant chilli seeds in NZ is? A few NZ based websites comment on temperature but not season and a few of the USA based sites say Spring, which makes sense but would be Autumn here. I gather they will germinate in any time of year but not produce their fruit until Spring/Summer? Any ideas and suggests would be great. TA
