Depends, in my experiences that has totally worked. She will follow him and not swim away when she's ready to mate, can take time. Best to have a biggest tank and some plants for her to hide, i like floating indian fern to help with the nest structure. I remove my females ocne they mate. See how you go, and remember to feed them well. Good luck.

Can try breeding her, I recall you have a male and another female? Introduce the male to the females and he, with luck, will mate with her after building a cool bubble nest. Would be interesting to see how it goes. Good luck.

She could be full of little white eggs which you should see on her belly, just behind her ventral fins, as a tiny white spot. Otherwise she's pigged out and having a "growth spurt". Worms???

WOW the last picture is great!! Looks very much like a Salvini cichlid, a mate used to have several but not as big though.... judging by the sharp dorsal fin he looks like a male. Lovely colours.

Haven't heard that one Sub but why not, although I been living in Auckland for over 8years I still dread refering myself as an Aucklander, rather a Westy than an Aucklander....... go figure. :oops:

Hi there, been a fish keeper for little over a year, thanks to a good friend, and very glad to have made it to the Forum finally. Like all kinds of fish but really love Siamese fighters, which I breed. Thanks.
