Hard to say ..... could be a little???? not much help am I? :-? Don't know if this pic is any better I don't have a reading on temp of tank sorry..... it would be at room temp (what even that is).... don't use lights on tank... room gets natural light so don't need to use them.... its not hot in there though.....

ok will try that.... Ammonia got a reading this time round: .25 others were O. Answered ammonia with a water change... I think it was because I'd changed filter carbon with wool... hopefully have pic's soon.... :-?

Well update on tanks.... :lol: :lol: I have two fully set up both around 215ltrs..... no longer have room in my room :lol: :oops: :lol: totally shocking!! very relaxing though... :lol: Tanks are: Secondhand one has: 4 Fantails, and plants. (did have 5 fans but one has died ) measurements are: 1m x 43 x53 (approx) New Tank a Aqua One980 215Ltr 99x47x60 has: 4 x Zebra Danios 6 x Leopard Danios Driftwood, rock, and a lots of different plants. would like to make it even by adding 2 more Zebra's but think I should WAIT.... Took my Dad down to Wonderworld saw the big 8 foot tank.... :lol: :lol: Now my Dad wants one in his new house (my mum is going to kill me! :lol: ) my MTS is out of control! Already have another tank in mind and what I want in it... :lol: :lol: plus As soon as new house is finish My Dad and I are going to build a pond... :lol: No grass to mow... if i have my way :lol: :lol: So there is totally more to come (and my mum thought me, having Horses was bad!) :lol: :lol: Have pity on her...... though she's starting to get use to it .... we already have 3 kittens.... thanks to me (yet again) :oops: :lol:

Well thats a hard one .... being so new to this don't really know what to look for ..... :oops: :-? Lets see ... Closed fins, opens and shuts mouth a bit?, often on his own, likes to swim at the top/or near to of tank...., rather small looking, do wonder if he/she? gets the right amount of food or if the others get it mostly due to them swimming faster?? Not as shinely as the other either..... not sure if this helps I really don't know??? :-? my poor Finfin. I try to put flakes in where he is so that he gets a chance to eat before the others.... is a few bit smaller..... Have a photo I could email you if that helps?? Thank you for your help, I need all I can get.... its hard to watch... them not doing well.....

They should explain it better on the bottle.... and as for the debate.... I'm so using conditioner... I have the worst water in the country so a study says.... I don't even drink the water from the tap.... no way I'm letting my fish... :lol: :lol:

Thanks Caper. yea was such a sweet fish too. Though I think they all are, each is different once you get to know them.... At least mine are... :lol: So far other fantails are ok, though are wondering where there mate is... Had my water checked again.... and done another water change...added a few more plants and have tonic salt too.... hopefully this will help other fish (FINFIN) that has the closed fins..... Showed a pic to my local fish store ..... they have no ideas either.... asked me about tank, food - how much - how often, etc etc. Said from that it looks like I'm doing everything right...... ???? guess its just a waiting game to see if Finfin comes right and no other fish get sick..... :-? :-?

Have some sad news after coming home from work today Goldy (as he got named) was worse...... moved to another tank... have beening trying peas but to no use.... Goldy went to fishy heaven about an hour ago.... Wish I could have saved him but.... hopefully I can do better with his mates..... Have ALOT to learn just pray that its not at the rest of my fishy's lives...

Help I have a fantail thats just sitting at the top of my tank, was going to post pic but don't know how... could email to anyone if that would help. Its the secound fish to go funny... see my post in coldwater for details... :cry:not sure whats happened .... THis fish looked ok this morning... I've had my tank tested this morning was fine... ph a little high but nothing to worry about - so I was told... fish is just sitting at top sucking in air (at least thats what it looks like?) he's a rather fat fish .... could he have over eaten? what do I do?? I have no idea and am worried ... :-?

we had gold fish in a trough when I was a kid.... they grew REALLY well. loved watching them swim around. It was a working one, think our cows like watching them too... they'd stand there following them swim. Really funny. :lol:

To answer your queston Paul_r - I'm just up the road from you... live in Pukehina Beach ... though moving to Tauranga next year (with a bit of luck). fishandchips THAT IS ONE BIG POND!!!!! :lol: :lol: Go U! :bounce: :bounce: I want one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol: have a big yard - save mowing it :lol: on the other hand I think thats more than my life it worth... may stick to tanks and the odd trough ... surely I could get away with that.. :lol:

Thanks Ian for your reply... Trying to do well by my fishy friends. Fantails are: 4cm (that bring the biggest) little bully too. 5 of those and 4 Danio's which are 2cm? ish thought Fantails would go in a pond when I move which is March - April would they last this long in tank or should I set up a temp pond. Have a old horse trough which would work well..... FinFin (the sickish fish) as he/she is now named :oops: (couldn't help myself) is still holding on........ looking a little happier......??? his top fin is still closed up though..... unlike the other fan's .... still gets around though and eating so maybe that's just him? :-? :-? Hopefully he'll be ok.... oh other thing is he's got one orangeish eye and one silver eye plus the black bit in silver one is larger .... does this mean anything?? or am I over acting? talk about not having a clue :lol: :-? :lol: :-? :lol:

New tanks arrived - safely :bounce: :bounce: Only took me MOST of the night to sit it up! was about 20mins to midnight by the time I finished. Like I have this fish thing BAD! Next time I buy a tank its coming with the stand made up - what a mission....... Oh tip for newbies like me if the inbuilt filter doesn't work maybe you have the pipe the wrong way around.... :oops: :oops: :oops: only took me 1/2 hr to work that out.... talk about .....

I'm totally hooked! brought a small desk tank - lasted a week, found it was WAY to small!!!!! so brought a second hand one (had for a month)- :oops: now brought a new tank arriving tomorrow.... :oops: (and the down hill spiral begins) Do wonder if its the right size for fish I have - please see my comment in coldwater subject....?? was going to sell secondhand tank but wondering if I should keep incase? Really want to do right by my new fishy friends.
