  1. Yea I know its not the problem just worried it may hold bad bugs it in.... now its been in contact with bad bugs.... Just covering all bases really. I feel bugs came from plants I brought..
  2. Well it looks like my troubles aren't fully over .... as I lost another fish I have to admit It's getting very annoying...... :-? Still no closer to finding out the cause...... I am thinking of cleaning out the whole tank at Christmas and starting again..... but then this would mean cycling tank again which I don't think fish could handle after all they have been though.... just really want to get rid of the disease or bugs that are in tank causing the problems.... At least the deaths have slowed down.....
  3. Thanks :bounce: You have been very helpful. :bounce: :bounce:
  4. Yea thats what I thought.... but wanted to check with everyone first....as I REALLY don't want any more problems.....
  5. ok question.... had something killing off some of my fish.... and I found a dead fish wedged in my diftwood so I took diftwood out to get it off.... its now been reboiled in water twice and is now just sitting in water.... Would it hold bad bacteria that was in tank/re dead fish..... or is it safe to put back in???? advice please Thanks Elizabeth/Newfish
  6. maybe there orange danios   no I think it went that way with death. .....as ones in tank are gold..... honest! 8) or my computer has changed colour a little... (its playing up....I see everything with a pink look mostly ) good news since last post of danio death.... haven't had any more so here's hoping!!!!! :bounce: :bounce: looks like I can get back to enjoying my fish!
  7. at the local pet store... rather cutie..... though I've decided I like my pearls better ....just don't tell the golds why's that??
  8. yea I'm sure..... I've checked and rechecked.... follow the instructions to the letter with your tank .... size, how many fish etc etc.... Mine's only has 20 fish now (was 27) and there all under 6cm so not a big load on tank this would have to make a difference.... do have air stone to (some say its an over kill but prefer to have incase).
  9. Using tonic salt as I think/thought this was to help fight infections (a more "natural" way). And as I don't know what the problem is I thought this was at least something to help my fish............as can't use med's if I don't know what it is...could make the problem worst. nitrate ..... well I guess that's just becuase of the plants and good air flow though tank..... ???? Since I've been testing tank its always been low - (0ppm ) Was right zebra didn't last the nite...... At least so far others look ok today so heres hoping ...... ps do water changes every week... and are very carefully watching tank for any signs.... if I do then its take fish out and do another water change to be safe....
  10. :-? Have another post on here but thought I may start again..... hope this is ok tank: 215Ltr ph 7.6 Ammonia & Nitrite 0ppm-(tank has never gone over .50ppm even when cycling it didn't go high - I always did a water change if it showed signs) Nitrate 0ppm last fish brought were sucky fish (4?weeks) Please note fish looked ok to me at the time......???? Last plants brought (3?weeks) Plants were not in with fish.... I put them right in tank - NEVER do that again as now know that’s the wrong thing to do. Nothing else has been put in tank since.... other than water change feed live food and flakes..... (have cut back on how much I feed) ok in the last 2 weeks or so?? I have lost: 2x sucky fish the one I brought a few weeks ago x1 Borneo x2 zebras x1 gold Danio (this morning -see pic's) x1 zebra which I don't think is going to last the nite.. It's sitting in tank on its own.... signs are side ways swimming (only a Little) hovering a round, didn't look as if it was eating this morning (which is when I put it on it's own) ... now its head down tail up...which is what Gold one did last nite was dead this morning... These are the only signs I have seen other than some how having in tank thin white worm? (swim in tank - and hatch?? From eggs on glass?? - mainly see around gravel) and in fry tank mainly (think easier to see in that one) green things… (looks a little like a brine shrimp in size?) has legs and a fork like tail that flicks up when annoyed?? (can't get pic doesn't come out) What the heck is going on ????? Really don't know how much more I can take of this I've done a search on the net.... but can't work out what It could be..... what ever this is it has also taken out ALL my danio fry in fry tank.... (only thing used between tanks was same plants I bought and had 2 of the sucky in there for a week......they left fry alone and were eating the algae, before I put back in main tank …. not a good idea!?) ALL buckets, vac (x2 - one for main, one for fry tank) and nets are fully washed out.......after use...... Tonic salt is being added each time I do water change....as well as stress coat, and TLC. Temp 25.... Does anyone have ideas..???? I'm totally out of my depth!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Can't answer your question... but I'd fully clean it out! say that has I have just lost a 40+ fry because something has contaminated the tank. NOT a happy lady....... I have now fully cleaned tank!! though only fry I have left is my ones outside in a plastic trough in the sun. (which I think I'll keep there as there ok)
  12. well one is still trying to sort out the problem with fish.... Did a 55%+ water change last night hoping this would help add tonic salt again, vac gravel and removed diftwood only to find a dead zebra in hole of wood .... think it may have been chased by the males and then couldn't get out???? but then anything could be possible at the moment... looked like it had been dead for a while :-? couldn't see it.....maybe this is why others are sick? who knows :-? only have 2 of one sort of sucky fish - others are dead....saw my last Borneo yesterday afternoon looked ok so here's hoping it will be ok....thinking I've losted two zebra danios Really hope this stops soon!! I don't like seeing my babies sick and dead.
  13. WOW WOW WOW That has to be the COOLEST pond/lake I have ever seen !!!!!!!!!!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Very cool ideed! Must be lovely sitting out there beside it on a warm summer day.....well anytime for that matter. Yard looks great too!! totally want a back yard like yours!
  14. :bounce: :bounce: me like..... :bounce: :bounce: Very nice fish you have there!
  15. Cool thanks for your post..... Sharn said same thing about worms..... I'll cut right back (any ideas on feeding for Danios )....hopefully someone will have some ideas on these others things..... Gold danio hasn't got worse so that's something but is still swimming slightly side ways
  16. Thanks Caper :bounce: :bounce: One trys Sorry my heads a bit all over the place at the moment..... Yes... it was the wool I changed......But I have noodles and sponge in filter as well - which I only just wash in tank water..... I redid my readings just to make sure I was right with them.... everything it fine with these PH 7.6 (high from tap) Ammonia 0ppm Nitrite 0ppm Nitrate 0ppm So trouble can't be from this........ :-? Only thing I can come up with,is that when I brought my last lot of plants (2weeks ago) that there was something on them....or the Borneo (that has now die...) which I brought about 3 weeks ago..... he's been dead a week I would say....looked fine when I brought him so wouldn't have thought it would have been from him.....??? :-? :-? :-? AS I said "feel like a fish out of water".... just don't know where to start.... DO I treat tank.....but then what with.....???? only thing I'm doing till I know what to do is....carefully watching readings, cuting back on feeds, and adding tonic salt when I do water changes....-hoping that will help other fish to fight what ever is making them sick..... I did find again today (when I did water change) these little white worm looking things(been hiding under gravel). and have just noticed little greenish? crawly things ..... tried to take a pic but it didn't come out..... look a bit like a brine shrimp...but its not one.... HOPE this helps........ any ideas are FULLY welcome I'm totally clueless on this one!
  17. Danio's: Zebra's, Lepoard's, Gold's, and some Pearl's (I hope)
  18. Yea sorry.... Thanks Caper I feel like a fish out of water!
  19. Well.... bad news.... I've found 2 sucky fish dead today.... Really at a loss as to what is going on with tank and fish...... Don't know what to do??? Both fish had a white cotton wool look on bodies......Can't say when they died.... Haven't seen my Borneo for a week so.... Just thought it was hiding.... Now know other wise.... I'd understand more if tank was under weather but test were all okish only just getting ammonia - which I think is because I've just changed filter wool...... only thing new to tank (2 weeks ago) is some plants..... and borneo 2 1/2 maybe 3 weeks..... :-? :-?
  20. I have an interesting question..... Where did you buy your plants? Can plants hold bacterial infections in them???? :-? Why I'm asking is I also have sick fish (have a post here) and have found 2 dead today. ... (both sucker fish) they both had same white stuff on them.... could be just one of those things.... just interesting as I also brought plants and one suck 2 weeks ago..... Tank was fine before this.....since this I've had fish go down hill ????? I wondered on peoples thoughts when I read this thats all.....
  21. Thanks guys!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Tank with 0ppm has my Adult Danios all 20 of them, plus 2 Borneo Suckers and 4 other suckers I can't rememeber the name of  and dear say a few hundred or so baby fry that I can't see   Yea its got a dozen or so plants so.... plus an air pump 8) and a well maintained filter 8) other tank as said has Baby Danios (don't know how many   ) air pump, filter, and a dozen or so plants as well.... Danios

WELL SAID! Zebra's are the easyest to breed - that's why You'd be finding so much info on them. In saying that mine have breed VERY well......  (See post on here if you want to know more about them.) They are egg layers...males chase females at first light.... Because males chase you will need to give them some room...Note males can get a little over the top Females are the ones with bigger under bellies Males are slighter and have better colour... Frozen "live" food I've found the best to get them in condition... Danios LOVE bloodworm!!!! You will see females start to get rather big bellies this is when you know you'll on the right track. Temp 24 .... give low light first thing in the morning and sit back and watch the "fun" :bounce:  Fry: .... I've been feeding mine on liquidfry food... Just trying out Nobil fluid (going well so far) some of my older ones are also getting a little flake food rubbed to a fine power. You will need to keep a good eye on water levels... adivce is to do VERY careful water changes daily (so I have read - somewhere  )..... I'm not doing this so much now and so far ammonia levels etc are all good...... I have a good cycled filter, air pump, and plants so guess this had helped me? have a small filter ready (when free swimming) and have air pump on right from the start..... also plants are good (fry like to hide and swim in these are much happier with these) All the best!! :bounce: :bounce: There lots of fun to watch growing up! oh note they REALLY LIKE TO JUMP!!!!!! so have a lid on tank!
