    Air Pump

ok I have 3.... 1 Hi-tech 1000 - $20 something..... 1 Hi-tech 1500 These frist two are near my bed .... laying flat they started to drive my insane at night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a light sleeper so that doesn't help! I have now put nails in my wall ( shhhhhh) and there alot better ....still hear them though.... 1 Aqua One Precision air pump sr7500 Well I've only had this for 3 days but so far so good...more air than others- as two outlets..... laying flat on my desk (far corner of room) but isn't annoying as yet.... does make noise but not as bad as other when they were laying flat. Very pleased with this so far $23.70 oh Hi-tech comes with 1year warranty Aqua One only has 6months ....the down side? All the best with your choice
  2. Ok what does it mean if you have traces of Nitrate in your tank?? tanks a 215ltr (note different one to one in another post - with sick fish) Ph 7.6 (ph from tap) Ammonia 0ppm Nitrite 0ppm Nitrate 5.0 - what does this mean?? Should I be concerned??
  3. Ok I finally got to a store today and brought a complete test kit. :bounce: PH 7.6 (but that's high from tap) Ammonia between 0 & 0.25 (think this maybe due to new wool I'd put in??) Nitrite 0ppm Nitrate 0ppm I thought it was all goodish......as when its been high I've just known in my gut.. But all this STILL doesn't really help the fact that fish aren't well..... WHAT NOW? :-? :-?
  4. Only just noticed it yesterday... so I'd say its just started happening..... Mainly in gravel...... I'll cut right back on food..... (didn't think I was but maybe I am...over feeding? ) thanks for the tip. Hopefully someone will have some more ideas on whats going on with them.....
  5. Here's what tank looks like.... Sorry don't know levels as I don't have test kit. (bad move on my part!) NOTE: theres are few more plants added since this photo... Cameras gone flat.. Also I have just noticed little white worm looking things....... :-? :-? Don't like the look of this! Have done water change and found them in that.... Poor fish they have been so well and tank has fully cycled.... set up for a around 2 months ....no should be longer than that....??? I'm wondering if my last sucky fish or last lot of plants had something on them?? As all fish WERE fully healthy. I have got 2 with fin damage but thought that this was them getting over the top with breeding..... ?? now not so sure :-? Also looks as if I have white spot on a zebra.....?? I've been SO careful with these guys and tried to do everything right... Tanks 215Ltr has 20 assorted Daino's, 2 Borneo suckers, & 4 other suckers (don't remember the name..  sort of midnet catfish sucker I think?) so should be under the limit of fish... Weekly water change use TLC & Stress coat every time. live plants diftwood - fully washed beforehand air stone top mounted filter ... with noddles (even have extra) sponge, wool, and now Bio Chem Zorb.... heater - set at 23-24 ...... as high as I'd go with the Borneo sucker.... Even my stones are a mix of gold and black - mostly black becuase better for fish? - so I've read....?? ANY TIPS, ADVICE WOULD BE VERY MUCH WELCOME AS I REALLY AM UNSURE WHAT TO DO...... Also if I put in a treatment what will this do too my filter media?? Will I then have to change it all?? oh I have put in tonic salt......
  6. HELP PLEASE!!! One of my Adult gold danios is swimming rather odd..... swimming slightly to one side.... gills do look as if red :-? What do I do NOW?? :-? here's a pic's - sorry not a very good one..... HE'S THE ONE ON THE FAR RIGHT....ONLY JUST IN PIC
  7. HI Evie I always put TLC and Stress Coat in every time I do a water change... to the amount of water added! (got that wrong the first time  )but then I have about the worst water in the country so..... TLC helps tank to cylce faster too.....at least that's what it says.... and has worked for me. When ever I thought fish looked stressed (levels high) then I'd do a small water change.... I had trouble when I first started out too.... hang in there it will get better and everyone here is REALLY helpful .... when things go wrong or just unsure on something..... ask away. You can always count on someone being able to help you out of trouble... Best of Luck!! And welcome to the site.
  8. Ok I have a pic ....Warning it is NOT a very good one.... Hopefully Evilknieval69 can get a better one 8) and here's a pic of the Adults.... Note the net you can see is for feeding... they pick bits out of this... and I get to see them eating
  9.  Thanks!!! yea mines just a little hard to take pic's.... They are growing.... Just found some more in main tank Looks like my pearls are thinking about joining in on the "fun" too.... How DID I get myself into this!? They are cutie..and fun to watch..
  10.    YOU better believe it!!!!!!!!  YOU haven't seen over run till you see my GUYS!!!!  I can't do a water change with out finding more fry! :-? Best of LUCK!

    ID PLEASE

Your pic's a little hard for me to see (due to my screen going pink ) But I'd say it looks like a danio too.... Pearls in my local store look VERY much lighter and hardly any pink or blue on them and more silver looking. To start off with I didn't really like them much as there colour really wasn't much. BUT in my tank they look GREAT! colour has REALLY come out in them! so .....may be thats it?
  13. Boy thats something I'm going to have to watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Better get a better air pump I think! :-?
  14. Sorry I can't help you much, but KNOW how you feel!!!!! My Danios have done the same thing! I now have: 1x 99x53x43 Heated fry tank set up 1x old plastic horse trough cold water (well cleaned beforehand) 2x plastic square containers cold water and my fingers crossed the parents will STOP!!!  I've also cut down on there live food.... they've been a bit quieter the last few days...so heres hoping! if you need a plastic trough I could help (pm me if interested). They work really well! Though easier for me cause I've just turned these little guys into cold water danios, so didn't need another heater, less power needed, do need a stronger air pump though ..... I saved fry by carefully scooping them up. Maybe you could put them in a breeding net in main tank....that way they are safe and sound.... ???? and you don't need another set up or any thing??? I'm sure someone on here will have a good idea...
  15. Well its a sad world when its comes to THAT!! I won't shop somewhere that treats me only in $ signs and doesn't give right advice or just pain unhelpful. -- warning to any shop owners now
  16. Very well said!! I agree... The other thing is if you work somewhere, then you should at LEAST learn the basics.....where is peoples work ethic's!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF you DON"T know SAY SO!!! Man thats like me selling a bottom end waste unit for a family of 5!! no way it would do the job properly! and its very simple basic knowledge in my JOB! I studied for a month going over my works standards before I start selling kitchens becase I didn't want to give the wrong advice! Its not that hard to pick up a book or ask someone with more knowledge, so when a customer asks you know the answer..... I just DON'T get some stores and there staff!
  17. Now thats a list!! Totally bets my list of fish by a long shot!!   Yes we would love to see more pic's ....Well I know I do! :bounce: Always cool looking at others peoples fish and there set ups.... find I learn heaps too. Makes it easier to learn the names of fish too   I have often sat here with a fish book so I know what the fish look like
  18. WOW, thats big..... Can't wait to see pic's of this.....
  19. This could be a silly question .... But why can't you buy fozen brineshrimp suitable for fry?? or even live ones?? I'd be happy to pay for some..... After all I've brought brineshrimp for my parent danios...... so why don't they do young brineshrimp for young danios/fish?? Was just a thought.......
  20. WOW WOW and WOW. Cool set up. Welcome, look forward to getting to know you.
  21. Cool!!! Thats good to hear. Could do with brineshrimp I guess but don't really want to "grow" them.... :-? Well yes and no..... we could only get the smaller fry which are really too hard to tell (we are talking 1cm here! - at the most)....... Can't believe how fast these little guys can be though! From the looks of fry.... Trust me I'm getting REALLY good at spotting them now!!! I'd say Zebra's, Gold's and maybe some Lepoards. Some fry look darker, and look as if they have stripes.... which I'd say are Zebra's While other fry are very much lighter and don't look as if they have any dark colouring .... so they'd be Gold's? While others I just don't really know as they aren't as dark but also not light, light.... so could be Lepoards?? Though I'm not saying I'm a 100% just from what I've seen this is how it looks....... and I'm starting to sound VERY sad that I look at my fry this much to tell them apart   8)
  22. Well thanks to evilknieval69 I have a few less..... :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: Best of luck! enjoy As soon as they grow to be seen on photos, I'll post some pic's. still just a tad small for pic's (well that and they REALLY know how to hide)
  23. ouch! no from where I'm sitting!!   Each to there own......
  24. I agree mine happy clean the whole tank - plants included. :bounce: There wonderful!! The twitching thing is really cutie too!!
  25. Haven't had your sort of algae, but have had/got the green and brown ones you find on glass, stone, EVERYWHERE (Well for me anyway) I got some types of algae eaters, NO MORE ALGAE.... :bounce: :bounce: to the point I'm going to try grow some on some stones to put in my tank so my Algae eaters have something to eat! Plus there cool to watch, mine went crazy trying to eat it all. They LOVED it! - some what fatish now...
