  1. Auarium Quarterly US Articles include:- Introduction to Dutch Aquariums Supporting the Tank Building Terraces in the Aquariums Choosing Plants for the Aquariums - the finishing touch Balancing the Fish n plants. Explains all about the Dutch Aquariums etc Some beautiful pics and explainations are good. I picked it up on sale late last year.
  2. great to see you Blueram and welcome to the board. I have a pair of kribensis too. They are a little hard on my plants. The planted tanks are beautiful, in the last aquarium magazine they had articles on Dutch aquariums which of course are fully planted. WOWOW ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL Welcome again
  3. no the kribs took advantage of the situation. So now the tank is sorted if the angels ever go into production again. Do you do water changes while fry are still in egg stage or early fry stage???
  4. Well I got the brine shrimp eggs and they are underway. The fry, wrigglers and parents were doing ok too...............until I tried to do a little water change by lifting some water from the top of the tank - the resulting eddy dislodged the fry and although the parents managed to save a few initially they were lost. My mistake in not leaving well enuff alone. Lesson learned. The brine shrimp I will feed to rest of fish.
  5. oooopps I was in the wrong column (freshwater). My juvenile angels have spawned (on valeseria) To my amazement the eggs survived and at the moment they have just moved the wrigglers to the Shark II filter. Keeping the two kribs, one eartheater near the bottom of the tank (80 litre hexagon).  should I turn the shark II off so the fry do not get drawn in the bottom if they drop off?? I also have an u/g filter. What do I do re water changes?? I usually do weekly of 33% - 50% changes. Do I just not do them. rushing to Christchurch to get brine shrimp and will get some infusia to feed them. Will I need to get another tank set up?? If so what stage should I move them?? Oh my you are seeing a nervous foster parent here.
  6. Great article. Nice to meet some more fishy New Zealanders
  7. the fungused ones remain and are spreading to other eggs. The wrigglers are definitely wriggling. No not found any yet. I will be going to Christchurch tomorrow morning early to get some. Maybe some infusia as well. If the roads are not closed due to the fires at Burnham area. Rotten Nor Wester howling around drying everything even further. Back to angels, the whole leaf of valleseria is almost moving.
  8. well I thought the angels were eating the eggs and I was so very very wrong. They are picking up any moving eggs and transferring them to the shark II filter case, They are fanning the eggs on the valleseria and transferring any movers and also fanning those and constantly retrieving invisible (to my eye) things and returning them to the filter base.
  9. Congratulations on you elevation Caryl LOL n1
  10. ty Caryl I will get some tomorrow.
  11. LOL laughing so hard here Pegasus. Great article/post. thanks
  12. :-) great being able to share with you all. The eggs are still there and still being looked after by parents. Kribs' are being kept to bottom of tank and earth eater is allowing the male to move him on. Now the male is fanning the eggs. I do not expect fry to survive. With the kribensis, earth eater etc in the tank. However of course deep down I am hoping. See how crazy fishkeeping makes one :-)

    First Disaster!

Wow cat what an experience. Fish keeping sure isn't boring is it. What a lot of work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How are the fish???
  14. Tonight I discovered that my young angels have laid their first lots of eggs up a piece of valleseria and are taking good care of them. while the marbelled female is fanning them the young golden male is bravely seeing off the earth eater and two kribensis which share the 80 litre hexagon tank. Yes there will have to be another tank set up so that the angels have the tank to themselves. Thanks guys/gals I just needed to share some of my excitement.

    Woop Woop!

shhhhh don't tell my two angels that I have had two angels swimming quite happily and peacefully with 20+ neons. Also a siamese flying fox (siamese algae eater - NOT to be confused with the chinese algae eater). I suggest read, read, read and then armed with knowledge go looking and see what healthy fish appeal to you - love shopping for fish
