  1. I believe there are genuine psychics/mediums out there, but distinguishing them (or actually finding them) amongst all of the wannabes/liars & ripoff artists is quite difficult. Unfortunatly due to the way the human race is with only believing in what scientists can tell us (well the majority anyway), most genuine psychics choose to remain anonymous. Quite funny that, how if someone mentions something about psychics/ghosts/ufo's/aliens or anything that cant be explained by science, they get called looney and people think they're full of it. Much like what happened to the people who RE-discovered the world was round, and tried to convince the rest of the population this was the case. From memory they STFU to prevent themselves from being burnt at the stake lol

    WhiteSpot

Not too sure on that one. Alot of the articles I read on the web about it, suggested vaccuuming the substrate on a daily basis, to try and catch the parasites once they've dropped off the host. If this is infact a successful method, then you would have to assume that having no substrate for the parasites to hide in would be a big help in the fight against them. Do a google search on the life cycle of whitespot if ya are bored

Not exactly, white spots are the parasites under the skin. Black spots are left as the wounds once the parasite bails out into the substrate.

Yup, it seemed my blue tang was like that aswel! From memory, in the morning it looked TERRIBLE, and by evening, it looked seriously better, and I often thought "Wow its getting better real quick!"

You can soak anything in it. Its just 100% garlic extract in a liquid form.

2 options Catch and Quarantine. Hyper salinity I believe is the most effective way to get rid of it. I think its 1.019, but someone else may have to confirm this. There will be articles on the net If ur unable to catch it, then UV MAY be an option but many will say that its a waste of time. Keep water params as stable as possible. Temperature and thus salinity fluctuations can cause stress, and is possibly the cause seeing as though the Tang is only new and will still be settling in. Garlic is supposed to promote an active immunity system in the fish, and theres no downside to using it. May aswel give it a go, though you may find they dont like it to start with. I use Seachem Garlic guard, but crushed normal garlic is supposed to be better. I actually ended up dosing a product which made the difference, although I borrowed this from Wasp, and I'm not sure its available in New Zealand. I think it was called "Stop Parasite" but it was a year ago so cant really remember. If its only a few spots, see how you go with keeping the params stable, it may come right this way. Also try garlic aswel. Keep us posted
  7. Too late now, wiring is already done haha A few big electrical stores, not naming names, had no idea what I was on about. I didn't try Rexel however, probably should've, seeing as though its a 2 minute drive from home
  8. Except that the core was too big for the ballasts I've used
  9. Where did you get that solid core stuff from in the end? I searched quite a few places (with many having no idea what I was talking about) and except for 5 metres I got from Zhacque, in the end just settled with some decent rated stuff and soldered the ends. BTW, fantastic looking tank, stocking much the same as mine haha (Sailfin, Blue and Yellow Tang haha)
  10. The corals seemed happier, but the big difference was the cleanliness of the tank, it always looked good and healthy.
  11. That the Fauna Marin one? Damn keen to get in on that one, the Prodibio made a huge difference. Not noticeable at the time, but as soon as I stopped dosing, within a couple of weeks it was pretty obvious
  12. I Used to do this, and loved the stuff, until MAF decided to get their knickers in a twist about it
  13. Already running carbon. I just dont want the MCE600 to be running at its limits and missing stuff when a slightly larger skimmer could be doing the job easily.
  14. Nothing wrong with water quality, I was just thinking for future chemical warfare once I do get more SPS corals.
  15. Well going bigger was kinda the plan, depending on cost obviously. Like from waht i've read, the MCE600 is designed for a 600litre tank with standard stocking, or 450litres heavy stocking. Would quite like something designed for 1000litres standard and 800 odd heavy, i.e the Tunze 9210 or an Octopus.
  16. I know, its currently being used in the sump now. I just thought a proper in sump unit would be more efficient?
  17. Whats one of the best and reasonably priced in sump skimmers on the market today that would be suited to my system? 650 odd litres. Have loved my MCE600, but I think the tank will benefit for something more suited to being in a sump

    Tank build

I've just searched thru all my photos and I cant find a clear one of the same eggcrate in my tank (Also made by TM) This is the best shot I have (Look at the top of the overflow) BTW, bloody nice tank TM If you end up with some leftover Olli, let me know, i'd be keen on a small strip of it
  19. MAF are tards. I understand the need for a government department to protect our environment, but they could at least employ competent people who can do the job properly! Its basically a mickey mouse outfit at the moment. I had a shipment from overseas which was held for 5 weeks. I was on their case from the word go, and finally (after forking out $75 for an inspection fee) I received the goods. For them to do the check on what they thought was a "hazard" would've taken 2 minutes, IF THAT! Hopeless!
  20. Cheers Tangs are eating purple dried seaweed. Seems to be their favourite, and they eat until they nearly burst. The Sailfin often swims around slowly afterwoulds looking bloated, and is probably saying "Uuuggghhh I really should'nt have eaten all that!"
  21. I've also chucked a few dead pieces in in the past in my old tank, but just thought i'd check as the new tank is far more stocked and I'd hate for anything bad to happen Might soak it in a bucket of freshwater for a while, swish it round like a madman to dislodge anything that might be in it. I have a feeling I MAY have half cooked this particular piece way back when I was first setting up the tank, but due to someone running into the tub with some rock in it with their car (and splitting it spilling 50 litres of saltwater through the garage and sleepout) I just chucked it in the garden and didn't bother with it
  22. I've got a piece of dried out liverock that i'd like to add to my refugium. Short of cooking it in a seperate container (alot of work for a piece of rock 1/2 the size of my head) is there anything I can do so I can just put it in the refuge within a few days? The rock in the main display is well matured, covered in coralline etc and the tank is running 0 PO4 & NO3. Adding this piece to the refuge would be equiv to adding approx 3% more liverock to the total system. Should the mature rock be capable of handling the NH4 & NO2 that may leech? Or will it just be easier to wait until payday and pop into an LFS and get some precured rock? I really should've kept more of that Liverock that I gave you, aye Conch

    clownfish

Great pics reef, ur efforts no doubt? I've heard that we've got some black clowns on their way down here. If I didn't have my 2 occelaris's, i'd be getting a pair
  24. True to that Speaking of Shrimp Cocktail, my mother in law rings me in a panic while i'm on my way home from work "One of the shrimp have just been sucked into the powerhead!!! what should I do!?" I get home and as I expected, 1 of them had molted. I somewhat assumed this would be the case, but do remember a number of times in the past being freaked out by a molt jammed up in a powerhead or floating around looking like a dead shrimp
  25. Has he shown aggression towards the shrimp? I've been considering getting one, and have read in plenty of places they're normally fine with shrimp, providing the shrimp are in the tank for a good period of time first.
