Wow he is awseome :happy1: I can't wait till he looks like that really cool male that you unfrotunately lost. Thanks so much for posting those pics for me
So what does this bubble algae actually do? Can you do something like this viewtopic.php?f=2&t=50222 for saltwater aquariums - optimise the coral growth to out compete the algae?
Do you mean the pic you posted or the link I posted?
Anyway, back to your pic...
The layout and position of plants in your tank is far better than that other one. I find yours is easy to look at, and it sort of has a smooth texture that seems to flow, where is the texture on the other one is very rough, with plants just jutting out at random angles, and the colours do not mix with each other very well. It looks weird with all the red and then that carpet of green and that funny scraggly-looking grass growing in the middle of nowhere. I honestly think you have one of the coolest tanks I've ever seen. I love it how you've crammed so many plant species in there but they all look really cool together. Plus you have really cool fish.
Personally phoenix I think that tank looks really messy and almost not real (so kind of tacky in a way). Your tank is a MILLION times better than that ! So go and drool over your own tank 8)
This is cool -

I was just giving suggestions. I didn't say to change the whole tank. Also spoon just said that those pics are old and there is more live rock in there - I didn't know that until he told me. And I cannot afford marines currently. I want to set up my next freshwater tank with metal halides and a sump so if I want to get marines all I'll need to do is buy all those expensive calcium and alkinity buffer things and a skimmer, live rock, coral sand and all the fancy powerheads to create the right current. Although if I was getting marine the one thing I probably wouldn't do is get fish because they're such a rip off. I'd just stick to corals and glass shrimp (the shrimp are great because you can collect them in rock pools for free and they look really cool).
I like it, but personally I think it needs more live rock. Build a pile of it in the middle of the tank. Then find as many species of corals/anemones that will coexist happily and add those. Then ditch that Polka-dot Cardinalfish and the Blue Damsel and get five of six of those little Yellow-tailed Damsels and a Six-lined Wrasse or a couple of small Gramma sp. That will be epic :bounce: Keep the Clownfish though - they're cute!
Hi everyone,
Could someone please post a list of all African Cichlids availible in NZ? I just want to have an idea of what's around so I can research some different species because if I ever go out of planted aquariums I'll go straight to Africans, and I want to see which Africans I like so I'll know what to get
Thanks heaps,
Joe
It can find new owners to become attched to But honestly phoenix, the dog just killed a chook, and the owner of both animals seems to think it is rocket science to get a coop to keep the chooks safe. I feels sorry for the chooks. So...
Either Zayne gets a chicken coop
The chooks go
The dog goes
Oh no I hope you get better Where's the group hugs smiley? I bet your feeling like this guy at the moment - &c:ry I feel really sorry for you
I had pneumonia when I was four. It was scary :tears:
The answer is obvious: chain the dog up at the other end of the property under a tree with food and water, let the chooks out for the day, and they will naturally avoid the dog, and the dog can't chase after them because it is tied up. When they go back in make sure the coop is locked up and then let the dog lose.
Like people have said, none of this is rocket science  :-?
