  1. that is a question only davidr can answer yes bulldogod the bulldog today is a different animal to the one i knew as a kid love the severum pics
  2. they are probably one of the best examples for humams striving to achieve a standard set for confirmation and the mighty dollar there are so many factors to consider that they miss the fact of what is best for the dog afghans were a beautiful dog originally bred to hunt gazelles and hare nowadays they are one of the scattiest dogs i know, maybe the result of too much inbreeding and striving for a look and forgetting the personality i breed mongrels for some of the reasons you have stated
  3. just a small point an amount of inbreeding occurs in wild populations of animals a dominant animal holds a herd or harem and breeds with his daughters etc then is usually diplaced by one of his offspring survival of the strongest genetics all of the different breeds of dog, cat and goldfish in the world are products of selective inbreeding
  4. i think it is wrong to interbreed but if the gene pool is nonexistant and there is a chance of saving the gene pool then i would do the same thing it would need to be made clear though that all subsequent fish came about by inbreeding amd care would have to be taken to fix the rotkeil strain in future generations otherwise you muddy up the future generations of both species of severum the ideal thing to do would be to put the offspring in a few experienced hands and keep the breeding controlled until the strain is fixed with all undesirable fish culled and not released to general sales

  12. as ryan said breeding 2 seperate species is a cross making a hybrid breeding 2 colour varieties of a species is not a cross a bulldog (American, English etc) x staffordshire is a cross of 2 breeds of dog ie: a crossbreed that is still Canis familiaris. some regard the rotkeil as a natural colour form of Heros efasciatus

  15. got to agree with your wee rant firenz sadly expertise or knowledge can be lacking in the retail side of fish with some shops relying on information passed on from the wholesalers, importers or country of export young fish can be hard to identify until they have some size and maturity as has been stated if you pay for one thing and get another you should be able return it with proof of purchase

    sea grass

it is better if you can expose it daily then you can just use local grass ie a tidal tank but in a tank or sump situation mo matter how good the lighting it slowly dies off unless it is a type that is used to full immersion

    sea grass

sea grass needs to be fully submerged variety, only 2 places in nz it grows fully submerged, i have some growing collected from pools at lowtide that still contained water all year round this is growing in a 9,500 litre outside pool though sponges etc and plants from deeper water should be all right as lower light requirements
