Dear new human, someone plucked us from our home we were used to has put us in a bag, shaken us around for a while then popped us in a totally new and strange environment we thought we might sit in the background for a little while so as to make sure that big net isn't coming back and maybe move us again signed the new angels P.S. we might venture out in the morning if your lucky.

  15. from the wiki page i posted "The species may show red spotting and a bluesih green dorsal overcast when mature and when aroused exhibits a black operculum spot. Characteristic of this species is an acute incision or notch above the nares (supraorbital indention). All true Orinoco Altum specimens show this trait, whereas commercial hybrids product of crosses to Pterophyllum scalare, that are occasionally performed by breeders to sell them as "Orinoco Altum", may not exhibit the trait or it may appear in a lesser degree." should be easy to tell on mature fish
  16. yes i believe it is a combination of conditions, food types and genetic prediposition maybe the upward gaze means the bottom muscle on the eye is stronger and diet can accumulate more fat or fluid in the system around the eyes, weaker top muscle letting go first? living in a river as opposed to an aquarium would probably produce a fitter and leaner fish not couch potatoes frequency of food may be greater as well in the aquarium would be interesting to know how many aros with DE lived for awhile when younger lived with bottom fin nipping tankmates
  17. wiki page is good too http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pterophyllum yes phoenix i would love some true altums, they grow into stunning fish saw some biggies in auckland years ago at a pet shop by the riccarton racecourse i think

  21. that is a very old guinea pig, and to live that long she has had a very good and contented life full of love now for your final act of love it is time to let it go and end the pain it is suffering i ave been keeping animals for too many years and the hardest part is that they generally don't live as long as us, so their end days is something we generally have to face make the kindest descision that is in the best interests of your pet let it go
