  1. WOW 33 clowns. and a enormous tank. would the tank still be big enough once they all grow to full size?
  2. How big is the tank? Wish I had that many.
  3. my biggest one is fatter, trying to size him down as well.
  4. surely you can't expect them to breed and baby snails come out afer just one hour. The baby snails probably came with oxygen weed you bought. are they trumpet shaped?
  5. 120L is too small for them. They'll be better off in a much much bigger tank. Or better a pond. what sort of goldfish?
  6. a tough question depends on the type of fish tank you want and the type of fish you want. you can't just come up with a list of fish that die easily. Though some fish are more delicate and intolerant of poor water conditions than others, therefore poor water quality they would die more easier than some species of more hardy fish, e.g. discus, blue ram
  7. How often do you clean the CF1200? Could be a side effect of the aquatic mix. Also what do you feed? feeding too much can cause cloudiness, especially dried food (from my experience). what filter media are you using?
  8. I think 20 clown loaches is way too much for a 250L tank. I would add about 4-6 small ones.
  9. are you sure the fish shop gave your three to start with? maybe a silly question but just making sure. They shouldn't bury themselves so deep you can't see them, what's your substrate?
  10. Just done the swap over, it is ordered like this. 1. original Fluval Biomax rings 2. new AquaOne rings 3. original Fluval Biomax rings 4. Bio rocks (CeramicSub) in mesh bags, at the top.
  11. generally you shouldn't keep anything that resembles a betta with an actual betta. or anything very colourful.
  12. it comes with a mesh bag. But sadly only one, and each tray is divided into two parts (stupid design lol), so what I'll it like this. Level 1: New Rings (without bags) Level 2 & 3: Old Biomax Rings (without bags) Level 4: CeramicSub (with two bags, one from the noodles jar) The holes in the mesh bag is still quite big, or I'll see if I can use the mesh bags the carbon were currently in, since I'm throwing the carbon out tomorrow.
  13. The finest stuff would be the CeramicSub. If I put it at the top I'm a bit worried since it's quite sandy, the grains would fall off and get into my tank. But that won't happen right? Right now the old noodles are on top and they are quite sandy as well.
  14. Bought one jar of AquaOne noodles, also a jar of CeramicSub, it's basically like small porous rocks, similar to the Eheim media I've seen before. What should the best order be? from lowest to highest. I'm thinking of putting the rock stuff right down the bottom, followed by the new rings, then the old rings (two trays), go on top. does that sound right?
  15. I am currenly leaving my Eheim 2010 for six weeks, just to be completely safe, added a Fluval 405 5 weeks ago. So the internal has one more week left.
  16. I recommend Eheim 2010, currently using one now and it's doing a great job.
  17. 1ppm doesn't sound too high. With high phosphates you should get a lot of algae, so if you have little algae then your phosphate levels should be fine.
  18. Don't want to continue with the carbon as there's a small chance I might dose the tank with medicine soon. So now looks like bioballs or rings are good options, out of these two I'll probabaly go for rings, so I'll have four full baskets of rings. But I'll look at what Hollywood's got tomorrow, last time I looked they had quite a lot of medias to choose from.
  19. Tomorrow I'm going to buy some filter media to replace the carbon in my Fluval 405, since it has been running for 5 weeks now and the carbon is expired anyway. What are some good filters medias? I was going to get a fine sponge pad but a lot of people tell me it'll clog very easily, so I thought I'll rule that out. Currently beside the 4 sponges on the side (mechanical filtration), there are 4 verticle baskets, 2 with carbon, 2 with biomax rings. I'm thinking some bioballs, or even 4 full trays of rings. What are some other good media I can consider? perferably fairly inexpensive. Cheers
  20. plastic won't melt. or if you want to be 100% safe make sure no part of the heater touches the plastic.
  21. awesome tanks. above is right, do try and get rid of the hair algae asap, it spreads like wildfire and not long ago it killed a lot of my plants.
  22. agree with above, you should definitely be fine, because everything you are moving is currently from a established tank. Keep filter wet and if possible running during the whole time, so you don't lose any bacteria.
  23. nice fish, though I thought before the whole body was round like a tube.
  24. Since I got these 3 cute baby clown loaches on friday, holes mysteriously appear on a lot of my plants... My two bigger clown loaches, which I had for long time now, never touched any of the plants. Now these babies make very good hole punchers. guess there's nothing I can do, just thought I'll have a moan. BTW, anybody wanting clown loaches, buy them when they are really small, they settle in really quickly and won't really be shy, not for long anyway, I got them at 3pm and by 5pm they were clicking away on a piece of cucumber, not like the two biggers ones I have, when I got them they were shy for about a week.
  25. cleaning it all over will just pretty much restart the cycle, like when you set up a new tank. As long as tank is healthy and clean just add fish slowly, this way you can fully stock it a lot quicker.
