  1. or your local fish shop might take it as well.
  2. Sorry not sure what you mean by this? I can pick up a new CF1200 for the price I bought this Eheim for, what's the reliability of Aqua One filters like? Anyone want to share any experience? cheers
  3. no don't kill it. give it away for free or something, aggression is just its nature.
  4. I guess I could, I always like to go for the best brand though. For my tank an AquaOne CF700 would be enough, the CF1200 with 1200LPH flow rate might be too strong. Or would it not matter? Because the intake and the spraybar out let doesn't seem to create that much current.
  5. Yes that might a good idea, will do that now, but did put him in a big fish net to start with but thought that wasn't very practical.
  6. Do skunk loach come in silver and black fins? look at the loach in the picture, it's got mischief written all over it lol.
  7. it'll be fine. some decoration in pet shops cost a fortune, a small cave in Hollywood fish farm was $20, just because it can be a hiding place and people will be tempted to buy it.
  8. Poor guy looks like he's going to die any second now. Yesterday he spent the entire day on his side in a cave, today he wouldn't even eat the food when it was right in front it him. And he's in a very poor shape, having trouble swimming upright, flips on his side often. Improvement in the other bigger skinny loach though, eats bloodworms like normal today, bought some new bloodworms today that might made the difference, it's the much thicker type and looks to be better quality.
  9. Seller agreed to a refund. Went to into the Hollywood today, they said the best way to repair it or in fact the only way, is to replace the top half, which is the main part of the filter, that's going to cost $230. So in that case, I'll take the refund. Such a pity...
  10. make sure it's not a Skunk loach, or Hora's loach. If it is then that might be your problem.
  11. other loaches? I know both zebra and yoyo loaches eat snails as well, sure about yoyo and 90% sure about zebra loaches.
  12. water seems to come out from there initially, but goes all around the seal and flows downwards, outside of course. Have asked for a refund, but will try Hollywoods first see it I can fix it, because don't really want to give this filter up that easily, everything is perfect apart from the broken piece, which unfortunately stuffs the whole thing.
  13. but even if I do put something on it to fix it, say put the stuff that harden on it, wouldn't it eventually break off due to the constant water flow past it?
  14. I'll take it into Hollywood on Thursday morning and see if they have any ideas. This is gotta be the most disappointing thing for me in a long time.
  15. I'm sure it was broken back at seller's end, in Hamilton, seller may not have noticed though. I don't have the missing piece, that's the biggest problem.
  16. Two pictures. First one is the damaged corner. Second photo shows what it looks like unbroken. http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/12/48722012_full.jpghttp://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/19/48722019_full.jpg
  17. anyone know if it's possible to get it fixed? a pity a great filter is stuffed because of one little piece of plastic.
  18. Figured out why now. A small piece of the top half has a piece of plastic broken off right near the seal, that's where it was leaking from. Guess I'll be asking for a refund, I can't see anyway to fix it and have no chance of finding the piece of plastic. Gee this really sucks it was the perfect filter, but no it has to leak.
  19. Try Siamese algae eaters if you can get them, they are known to eat black beard algae.
  20. Ok very bad news. After about 2 hours of running the filter started leaking from the where the top half connects to the canister (the box). Any ideas? Or is it faulty? Will take it apart and look at it carefully.
  21. Got it going now. Was an idiot, the lever had to be at the ON position, which was 1, I pushed a little harder and got it at 1. Turned on the filter, sucked on the outlet and off it went.
  22. Both levers have two positions, 0 and 1. Right now they are on 0, should I push them to 1? But can't push them unless I push really hard, which then I'm afraid they'll break.
  23. how do you prime them? There's two levers on on the left and one on the right, beside the inlet and outlet pipes. But I can't seem to push them without breaking them.
  24. Hi, got the Eheim 2224 I bought from Trademe today. Got it all setup and all pipes connected, but can't get it to start. When I plug it in without water it goes and sounds like normal so it definitely works. Anyway I filled the canister with water, plugged it in and it occasionaly makes a slight clicking noise, and I tried sucking as hard as I could on the outlet but it still doesn't go. Any ideas on how to get it started? thanks a lot
