  1. thanks for the suggestions, more would be much appreciated. Would like to avoid danios, I've had 5 leopard danios before, when I sold them the last one took me about 2 hours to catch. Harlequin Rasboras look nice but I think my tank temperature is too high for them, it's constantly at 26-27. And my tank would be too small for rainbows? They sure look nice.
  2. I've looking for 3-5 fish to replace the 8 neon tetras I've just sold. I would like them to be slightly bigger, top-middle dwelling and fairly colourful. Any suggestions? I don't know that many fish species so thought I'll ask on here. Cheers
  3. last time I picked something up from there I knew they not open on Wednesdays, if that's any help.
  4. I would definitely move the clown loach to a bigger tank, they are not suited to hexagonal tanks at all, they need much more floor space rather than height.
  5. agreed that's a lot of potential. hope it works out beautifully.
  6. yep can read it really easy. Only 55 people can?
  7. It depends on your budget of course. But I would avoid DELL, my mum bought one and it's the most annoying piece of cr*p I've ever seen. So many unnecessary start up items and features that wastes your resources. I would go with Toshiba or ASUS.
  8. so they are pretty strong? I can't imagine it'll have the strength to insert itself in gravel this size. My gravel is not huge just the average sized ones we see most of the time.
  9. should I try and get another one? I've read they like being in groups. Also in the shop where they have small sized gravel it would sometimes bury itself, but I have the common average sized gravel so doubted it would be able to do that, would like make him less happy? Plenty of caves though.
  10. Bought a peacock eel from Jansans Henderson Store today on the way back from work. Ideally I would buy it after my neon tetras and swordtails are sold but today is the most convenient time. Anyway it settled in very quickly, the guy in the shop told me it was very friendly and doesnt hide much would turned out to be true. I notice it sometimes nudges other fish with its sharp nose, especially an albino cory, but other fish as well, what's it doing? Just being playful? The other fish don't try to move or swim away so I assume it doesn't hurt. Any ideas? Cheers
  11. great job, good to hear they are doing well.
  12. had a pair of bolivian rams before, they weren't as colourful as I hoped so thought I might try blue rams this time.
  13. 75cm across, 50cm wide, 40cm deep. was thinking of a pair of blue rams, I can't have too many other fish as they don't tolerate very high nitrate levels, right now it at about 20ppm.
  14. Hi all Have the following fish listed below currently, however would like to change it around a little. Selling all neon tetras and swordtails, also 2x siamese algae eaters. Would definitely like to have an small eel, or maybe even 2. Would like some fish that like to be in small groups, but not too small, perferably a bit bigger than neon tetras. Apart from eels would like another 6-8 fish or so. What some some good fish suitable for my tank? Will look them up on the internet and research them more. Cheers
  15. it should clear up, cloudy water is normal for a newly setup tank, or even a mature tank when a bacteria bloom occurs. Try reducing feeding, more small water changes, but don't disturb the tank in a big way.
  16. Will sell neon tetras and swordtails. They'll be ok with clown loaches right? Also is 27 degrees a bit too hot for them?
  17. nice display tank, its like a business building for fish.
  18. agreed with doing it yourself, probably be cheaper and safer as well.
  19. Hi all went into Jansens Hendersen store on the way back from work today and decided I wanted a peacock eel, looked very interesting and cute. Just wondering would they be alright with neon tetras? Or will they see them as food? I might have to sell some fish first though sine I have quite a lot already. Cheers
  20. awesome shot of the clown loach
  21. you need to buy test kits for ammonia, nitrite and nitrAte, these are likely to be your problems. The tank needs to be cycled first, cycling is especially difficult with a small tank.
  22. I read somewhere Java will grow better at lower temperatures, but they are very hardy and can tolerate just about any conditions.
  23. Ok so I should buy another pack, will do tomorrow or maybe friday. But this time would someone PLEASE remind me not to forget. lol
  24. Hi all, bought a pack yesterday, forgot about it and left it in my car overnight, it thawed, so I put in the freezer. it's still ok right? after thawing and refreezing. thanks
  25. Yup I know it's Ernest Rutherford. Pity he's not around anymore.
