  1. I had looked at using LEDs but for the size of my tank it would probably cost $1000, with MH's i could get twin 150w fittings (excluding lamps) for $280
  2. I had a black silica sand substrate (not as fine as white silica sand) and I had good plant growth, I just had good lighting, ferts and flourish excel
  3. perhaps the light is too bright? Some fish prefer shady parts in the aquarium and also after moving them they can get a little shy but should return to normal within a few days

  7. Antartica is in a cycle, its darkness for X months and then Sunlight for x months, not 24/7/365
  8. The trouble with having two heaters in the tank is getting them to work at the same time, Sometimes you may find that they aren't set to the exact same temperature and you end up with one switching off and the other trying to heat the tank to X degrees.
  9. the 7.5KG co2 bottles from HFF are not brand new, they are 2nd hand with new valves :sage: Unless they sell the same ones the mentioned in another thread, new.

  11. The ink fades very fast if left in sunlight, or in a warm spot in the house. (try putting a lighter under a receipt you don't need and watch the ink vanish!) I store valuable receipts in an airtight container in the cupboard
  12. I think its mostly to do with the thermostat, but it always pays to have all the glass submerged to stop heat stress caused by two different temperatures on the glass
  13. Got one at animates, was $20 more than what i could have got from Organism but i wanted it asap and didnt want to rely on the couriers :sml2:
