  1. I'll be leaving Raumati about 9am and have to be at airport by midday. Can any anyone suggest a couple of LFS to visit on the way. I think I remember one in the hutt mentioned a few times on here. Save me from drinking too many coffees in Cafes! suggestions?
  2. And once they get the idea the triggers don't need to be much. Probably once the girl is ready and parked up outside they'll go again.
  3. Fence!?--Thats a Mountain range you've sitting on mate! As with Ilah as not hypan, and the clowns are the only ones who are mature enough to breed. Great news-Get a bamboo cave in there and get us some more!
  4. Isn't that just Frodo Baggins holding a Yabbi!

    Tetra Tank

maybe even rasboros in a tank that size. harliquens or emerald eyes.
  6. Hi Cant tell you what is is either. I showed this thread to friends last night who had the same problem. They bought fifty cardinals for their discus show tank. Luckily they have a quarantine policy as they eventually had to euthansie the lot because of the same problem. The bubble eventually bursts and a pussy white filament exudes and trails. The tails almost rotted completely away. Over 2-3 weeks they tried prazi, furan2, methyline blue and prescribed meds, (antibiotics) from a Vet and nothing worked. They spent hundreds trying to solve the problem. My understanding is that these cardinals were imported by a particular importer as local stocks couldn't supply demand. Sorry cant help more.
  7. Sell Him!! Auction him off as a Handyman!- then tell him
  8. And I bet in the end the damn light bulb didn't even get changed!
  9. The "thrill of the chase " not withstanding I hope the result of the mbuna ID ends with the only resolution the current info on the fishes history would dictate I could suggest Kenyi in there as well As for yellow go still male on yr yellow. I've had male looking females like Smidey as well, except they lack the vividness of black, the amount of black in pectoral and anal, and dorsal was as pointed. tried to upload a cple shots of a boy and girl of mine. Has anyone had trouble uploading to photobucket lately- very slow for me. .
  10. None of my girls while having a tinge in the anal fin have ever had the solid black. but I am talking 6-8mth + fish
  11. Bingo! I should have googled Winston Churchill earlier. bulldog- i believe you have in one post hit the nail on the head, or in doggy talk You have " filled the collars"
  12. David has, by all accounts has a very promising career ahead in Politics.
  13. David R is the person to ask on that one.
  14. Jamos there should be no need for confusion if importers behaved in more enlightened ways. A common name that is recognised universally for a certain fish with known L#, and is already in this country. To use that common on a new, entirely different fish of an entirely different genus because you know it has more market appeal is something you as consumer don't deserve.
  15. Pity we can't identify as easily "motivation" and put a disclaimer on that. Money does make the world go around. "Business 101-Point of difference", and when this difference has little chance of being validated then- " Business 102-Ethics" seems to be optional. It so happens only one breeder/seller who has economics as key element to their decision making has been discussed here. If that were all. There's a certain importer of plecs who certainly was smoking behind the gym during the "102" lesssons. From there - "Business 103-service' is a matter of discussion that ultimately the customer has the final say.
  16. Do you mean the Hypostomus cochliodon that was again given a wrong common name. Omnivore- bit of everything OR L25 -pseudancistrus species that came in about i yr ago. Same with more protein in Diet- shrimp pellets
  17. Phil- Are you really that obtuse! Going overseas to get confirmation on an peacock you got from unknown source of unknown source in NZ. This statement once again has more to do with you blowing hard in some attempt of painting a picture that you are privvy to amazing resources and experts. Where are they. They wouldn't support you in any one of your points based on the facts. You don't listen as you have obviously spents yrs diluding yourself that you don't have to. I have no confidence in your knowlege on African cichlids what so ever Phil-Fact. I base that opinion on your opinions and methods as a breeder, and because of that I can't call you a good breeder. Your diatribes all start with the attack on a person and turn into a rant of how we should listen yo you because you think so. Posting trade me feedbacks is all about Phil Collis mate and you fail to see the point.again. I am educated, I am well read, I have the ability reach logical conclusion based on known facts. Personal digs or you trying to remember who I am, as if that matters I find laughable. You have most of us here scratching our heads with some of your statements, not because they are out of league because they are ramblings. You contradict yourself with virtually every post you make. You don't even get the subtle digs Phil- stretch out your hand as far as it goes. Then look past that. That mate is where the rest of us stand, look and you might see us I wrote this in the very first post of the "WTB..." thread 3 dayus ago Mate -Bang on!! Facts only!- I don't need a diatribe of fermenting personal digs or Buffoonery claims that 35 yrs of fishkeeping gives you more rights than others as seems to be your Mantra
  18. Up 1964 malawi was a british colony and was known as Nyassaland and the lake was Lake Nyassa, I and obviously the officials read that as all Aulonocara species from lake Nyassa (Malawi) Nyassa has several spelling options also. "I presume"
  19. "Ps..Dont expect me to trust to many if future..If i buy and yes i will be ,proof will be required as to true ID.." I agree. If people aren't willing to provide info in order of making a positive ID one would be forgiven for doubting fishes authenticity 13/8/08-Phil wrote "To Chiwa Island..Where i get fish from is not for you to know as i have suppliers all over nz.." With all due respect to Alex. is aae one of your secret suppliers, and isn't that a trade me logo on that fish? phil wrote 13/8/09 "Not a just a score of t/me at all.." shhh!- I put carbon copy paper under my computer. The shot earlier in this thread of my chilumba was of a young male plucked out of breeding tank with only girls after 2-3 weeks, then put into the all male tank so is flaring in full breeding colour. If i were to take a shot 2 days later of the same fish in that male tank he would have lost a lot of the flush, the blue wouldn't be as vivid and the intensity of colour in anal and dorsal woluld reduce. A week later and he is dark, lost most of his breeding colour and quite drab now as he isn't the dominant fish in this tank and his drabbness doesn't draw attention. One which one of those photos would you require for the ID. I would expect phil to trust me and my fish as far as he can throw me.
  20. Sounds good You will of course avail your customers of those same edicts. Tell me Phil- have you tried floating with the tide?
  21. Not sure what you mean. what is your point this shot is of one of my young Jacobfriebergi, and looks like your top shot I bought these guys parents as that name about 18mths ago. I have never called them anything else, not even "lemon jake" when 'overkeen' forumers looked to adopt that name based on internet research-ie find a lookalike photo. You could direct me now to an Australian Commercial trader site where A Jacobfriebergi is listed under "Firebird" Your second shot looks a bit weird- Red rubins(rubescens) or hybrid of?- Maleri? Yet I could go to an overseas site and show A rubescens as "Firebird" All confusing- I guess that is the potential outcome of flinging juvi's together to sort them out as adults and to use certain resource material to push barrows rather than to solve problems
  22. So was he the old owner cause he used to own the shop or he's just old?- helps with the mental image,
  23. Problem is that some are unwilling to take that Approach and in fact seem to want to "put up their dukes" rather than debate an issue on issue only basis. Andrew- (most of you know my name) quote from another thread. "Wanta quit or keep shooting ya foot off.... " I DONT NAME FISH..AS I ALREADY STATED..." PHILL COLLIS PROUD TO PUT MY NAME AND NOT HIDE BEHIND A FORUM.." In my opinion Phil is breeder that I wouldn't recommend to others based on what I regard as practises that seem to have nothing valid about them except that he says so. Perhaps I am alone in this opinion I believe his own words often contadict themselves and ultimately his goals are dictated by economics. This is his perogative. I accept and realise that. But, agreeing with him is not a requirement, and if he takes personal offence to that, then that is regretable.
