    A few issues!

glad you're all sorted. I'm sure it won't be hard to find some more glass shrimps! Oh and Layton- I like the Second drool emoticon- you should ask Cees to add it to the ones on the left side of the reply screen!!
  4. wow- lots of info! Perhaps it would be a good idea to reference your quotes etc though- eg- http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm ... cleid=2730
  5. I think thats wrong Rockerpeller- if the overflow isn't siphoning, then it wouldn't matter about the size of the return- only as much water will go down the overflow as the amount put into the tank. How big is the tank SilverBlade86? That AT Pump you posted is only running 1500LPH at 0 head. The AquaOne CF1200 external does 1200LPH at 1 meter head or something, that submersible pump is not going to do that much, on a 3ft tank or above I would really recommend getting a decent second hand Eheim or something
  6. depends on the fish in your comm. tank...
  7. can we get this or anything similar in NZ?
  8. found this which might be of use. is this what you were thinking of by sloped overflow? http://www.reef-eden.net/DIY%202%20.htm
  9. problem I can think of using a pipe rather than a bar is that the pipe would have a bigger suck to it than a bar and even if it did have a grill, small fish could get sucked onto it and stuck... the idea would be to make a large grill
  10. something like this would work- might be harder to DIY though
  11. why would you want to have the bend?
  12. bigger overflows are generally quieter as there is the same amount of water travelling over a larger area resulting a quiet waterfall running down the outside compared to gushing. In your case with an overflow box rather than an overflow this really shouldn't be a problem. Small is good coz they are less visible

  14. Sorry bout the pics I have been rushed off my feet this semester. those crickets and locusts on display are just adults. there are vermaculite egg cups in them though so we can get the eggs. Locusts are fed to spiders and frogs as well as on display, flies are cultured for geckos and skinks, and crickets for display only
  15. Thanks Wasp Sorbitol is the Sugar alcohol residue in the barrels which caused the problems in Chim's and Shaneo's tanks last week
  16. this will tell you all you need to know http://www.reptiles.org.nz/
  17. it wan't meant to be low! thats why I put the Cry emoticon at the end!
  18. are they good petplanet? I have been looking at getting a 9Watt UV for my Reef and those look good. they are so cheap though- which is why i was a little suspect about the quality
