  1. Also pays to try find out what caused the outbreak. Erythromicin will kill it, but if the conditions are right for it it will reoccur at a later date. Have you tested the water to get an idea what its up too?
  2. Looks sweet Ant I bought some more female Threadfins yesterday for my males. I also had a pair kindly sent from BIGBOSSMAN. I really want to successfully raise some fry this time. I have an endless supply of green water now. Im glad the apistos are going good.
  3. LOL, I think you may be! LOL
  4. Im sure Hollywoods Mt Roskill had some, but it was not for sale. I cant remember exactly if its that, but the guy said he would PM me when its ready for sale. That was nearly 4 months ago, so I assume its not being sold. I may be wrong , but Im sure it was this plant. I was tired and not thinking straight after just being at a Slayer/Megadeth gig the night before. HTH
  5. LOL, Good going Zev Once they start flowering, thy will continue for quite some time. Its just getting them to flower in th first place. My Affinnis is still a bit small for flowers.
  6. Sorry to hear about your troubles Heir. I can imagine how p'd off you must feel. I know the feeling you have about being given the run around. Í am store manager of a furniture and appliance store and we ge this sort of problem all the time. Its the bane of my working life, trucking firms. If its not damaged its sent to Whangarei instead of Wanganui. Or its lost altogether. Get this. We had some furntiture delivered to our store in Hawera, (an hour north of Wanganui) that was supposed to be delivered to us. We rung the firm and asked them to deliver to the correct store and they said that its will be picked up and dropped back at their depot in Palmerston North and delivered in two days. Now the frustrating part is, the truck has to drive through Wanganui to get to Palmy, but apparantly it has to go back to the depot first. Where is the logic in that???? And as Murphy would have it, it was an urgent customer order!!!! Stand your ground and by the way, dont tell them you are not paying until you have the goods. They are likely to hold the goods until payment is made.
  7. Increase water surface movement. It slows down the spread and makes it easier to get on top of. Also most rainbows will eat it, but not fast enough to eradicate it.
  8. Try to avoid potting mix as it has added ferts which will poison or kill the worms. Also any media rich in organic matter will feed the worms, which means they stay buried and are hard to collect. I use peat from garden centre. Its great.
  9. Hard to tell, But probably yes. I would rather buy new stuff as who knows whats lurking in there. Snails, etc. Its cheap enough new. JMO Ask the seller what it is.
  10. I clean mine with a sieve and garden hose. Doesnt take long. Just lightly vac across the top and it will be sweet. With lots of plants hopefully you wont get much dead zones. Cories and loaches will love you for it. If its at least an inch thick then not likely to disturb Aquatic mix. I have pics over the other way http://www.fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/vie ... f=4&t=1930 I use this exclusively with no issues. HTH
  11. Crypt Balansae. It grows easily and not too fast.
  12. that and probably the name on the packets. Brine Shrimp does not sound anywhere near as fun as Sea Monkeys. LOL
  13. And then they take over your tank. LOL Its a fast grower, but goes into a dormant period with no new growth then drops leaves and starts again. Its a cool plant
  14. No where enough for a tank that size. What difussor will you be using? If you use an airstone, most of the bubbles just hit the top and dissapear. Running an airstone to airate the water is just defeating the purpose.Only run the airstone at night. As Nick said, the only way to see is to add a drop checker and monitor it. Maybe for you investigations, you should look for better ways to difuse the co2 into the water. In your jars now your co2 is just bubbling to the surface and not disolving. Bout the only good its doing is creating water movement. HTH
  15. Yep, thats a flower spike. Will open up in a week or so to a white flower. As Nick said, like a peace lilly
  16. Whys that Nick?? You wont see dolphins while you driving down the road!
  17. http://www.deepblueaquarium.co.nz/filter.htm They are slightly different, but the filter setup should still be the same. HTH
