  1. PM me your address and Ill post you some Microworms starter culture. Congrats on the spawn BTW. I will be putting my Eunotus together in the next week or so. I already have tanks full of fry. Apisto. steelblues, L. curviceps, Blue Acaras, various rainbows and WCMMs. Nothing beats live food for fry IMO.
  2. I was tempted, but I dont want to put anymore on the creditcard. Interesting to hear what people got though.
  3. Ill send you a few Plantlets when I post the plants. It doesnt travel that well, but you should be able to get some plants out of it by floating in tank for a week or so. Simon
  4. Plants are already reliant on CO2. Itd give a noticeable reduction in growth and may shock the plant for a while but Id say thats it. You are not overdosing the plants with added CO2, just making it more accessable.
  5. Cryptocoryne Species would be my favourite. LOL I am a aquatic plant nut so I dont really favour one over the other other than Crypts. I have most available plants growing here, whether it be submersed or emersed. In fact I prefer plants to fish anyday. LOL call me a geek, I dont care
  6. Yup definately glosso. As others have said, just rinse and plant. I does require good light and may take a while to adjust to being ripped up and replanted. If you are worried about any nasties you can do a Pot Permanganate dip which will kill any bugs or snails that are hitchiking.
  7. Its Hornwort. And it is illegal to sell or distribute.
  8. Looks very much like Hornwort to me. There is heaps of it in a local lake here. Illegal to posses and even more illegal to sell.
  9. Looks like Sagittaria grown emersed and the yellowing is the dieing emersed growth. Maybe?

    Plant ID

Looks nothing like ludwigia helminthorrhiza Looks like the same stuff as this. It grows in streams and stuff around my area. I did have the name of it somewhere, but not here at work. Will check when I get home
  13. Video of my Dwarf Flags with fry. They have just become free swimming today. Mum and Dad are taking great care of then so far.
  14. Good question. Maybe someone should contact the SPCA and ask for an explanation. If they are to advise such things then they should have to explain reasoning. I mean it is us directly that it affects. I deal with courier firms daily and I know that stories and rules change with each shift sometimes.Prices vary greatly between companies. I mean one particular aforementioned is quite often double the price for no apparant reason. Get told the same, "do you want to send it?"
  15. Hi Its a marginal plant that prefers to grow in moist ground Many LFS sell it as an aquarium plant but it will, no matter how much you try, start to die off within a few months. It would suit better in a Paladarium setup. Sadly most LFS dont even know what they are selling let alone how to care for them. Plants that are red in colour nearly always need alot more light than the green varieties.
  16. C. beckettii "petchi" Obviously of the beckettii family Compare the above pics with this pic of standard beckettii
  17. I doubt it, thats a female excuse,LOL
  18. Yeah my male is pretty submissive as well. She give him a right real hiding sometimes. Just make sure there is planty of places for him to hide and when he feels right he will come out and play.
  19. Mine do much the same. Is she on eggs?? She will get very territorial towards any other fish when she is breeding. You will probably find that the male is not in the mood, and the female is giving him a hard time about it. Try removing him for a week or so, then reintroduce them.
  20. Sorry to hear about the loss Adodge. It is for that reason I am picky about letting people collect stuff I sell on trade me from my home. I get most to collect from my work place. And ones I do allow to collect from home, I never allow them to see my fishroom without me knowing who they are. ( so if you have seen my fish room, count yourself privelidged, LOL) We dont really have a LFS here in Wanganui so people may find it easier to help themselves if they know you have what they want. As LA said, you cannot accuse someone, but you can tell people you have reasons to believe. Was it through selling on trade me that you believe it to be this person?? And David, I too have the same fear about someone thinking I have Hydro setups. Though its mainly my neighbours who I worry about, so on many occasions I have left the curtains open at night while the light are on. If they are/were curious, Im not stopping them from seeing what it really is, although the countless Aquarium Paraphinalia around my yard, kind of gives it away. LOL
  21. A nice tall skinny spathe. This is the first time this one has flowered.
