I used to feed mine on Garden worms(they loved them and it gets them to actively chase the food. Even if its not hard for them to catch them, but Axys will become lazy and just sit there and let you drop the food in its mouh) I also fed bits of fresh fish and beef heart. I tried to avoid feeding too much of the dried food. HTH
