  1. Yea I have been thinking about backing but the plant I have going along the back (I forget the name) seems to be doing really well with the sunlight so I had left it, plus I was hoping to get it to go across the whole back. The tank has only been set up for approx. 6weeks so its a work in progress. I know what you mean with the black gravel as I have it in a cichlid tank and my electric yellows look amasing since changing from white to black in there. The other reason for the white is I was on a budget and white is what was going cheap  One day I will have no buget  Well maybe in a dream And definately always looking for new plants, everytime I go to the LFS I come home with the buy 5 get one free deal  I also have some dwarf sag grass in there that I am hoping will take off :-? Anyone with any plants forsale that they think would look nice in my tanks let me know Anyone think I should change any fish around? If so what types?
  2. What does everyone think??? Any idea's on anything welcome http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/my-tanks-vt15261.html Thanks in advance
  3. Hey Wok, Hows the babies going? Are any at a sell-able size yet? If so how much are you selling them for?
  4. I could be wrong here but I think melafix is one treatment *walks out to check on my bottle* Well it treats damaged fins so I'm sorry I am not much help at all I just found a bottle of masterpet called anti septic which says it treats fin rot so theres an idea :-? :-?
  5. Rocks and driftwood are free from the beach or rivers, thats where i get most of mine
  6. What fish would you count as not compatible?
  7. If so I have two of them and they are little characters  I have them in with platties, mollies, fighters and guppies. I would recommend them :bounce:
  8. wow thats beautiful luke!!! Everyone's are beautiful
  9. Those ones on trademe arn't fully submersable just so you know. My jebo 300w heat sux!!! I had heaps of trouble with the heat being from 25 to 33, so I put it into a 40ltr tank and it seems to keep that at a even temp BUT i wouldn't buy another jebo!!!! I haven't had any problems with my aqua one heaters but I do keep a close eye on the temp after having the jebo
  10. should be fine I brought back 9 discus and 2 fighters back from hamilton (8 hour drive) and they were fine
  11. I have the CF700 for my turtles and I also have some cichlids in there too. The water stays so clean, I'm like in love with the filter as it makes my life sooooo much easier..... and no problems with it either I got mine off trademe brandnew from tough tanks for $115 which I thought was great!!! Go for it!!!!
  12. Hey don't be mean about my way!!! I have no mess and it takes only a minute and then it's away. Don't bag it till you've tried it!!
  13. No sucking involved in the way I do it
  14. I fill up the filter and then put it on the floor or where ever you want it to go then I open the switch on the intake and out, then I hold one up in the air and (i can't remember if its the in or out I pore the water down but the one that would be sucking the water) I pore water down the pipe and it will fill up the other hose and get all the air bubbles out of the filter which are the biggest problem i found. Note when filling up the pipe it has to be higher in the air to the other one to fill it up properly. Well I hope this helps  Good luck as I think i made that sound confusing hehe
  15. note taken I will put them in the rubbish then  On that note I hope I don't have to be getting rid of any dead bodies from my fish tank for a long while Wow that looks great I think I might invest in one, that just went straight onto my watchlist thanks very much!!!
  16. On that note, how long does it take for chlorine to evaporate as I have run out of stress coat and my replacement has been delayed so won't arrive till Tuesday. Anyway I moved a tank last night and wondering when I can put the fish back in? Has been nearly 24 hours?????
  17. When I said I flush them, I have only ever flush one semi alive fish (and I thought the chlorine would kill him instantly??) any others stayed in the tank till they passed away then got flushed if it wasn't close to rubbish day.
  18. Is it more of a soft guey stuff that is coming of it in little cotton like streams?? If so I brought some and it was like that too but my BN's cleaned it all up within a day or so(I don't know what it was but it didn't effect my fishies) I also have wood from the beach in my other tanks and I just gave it a wash with water and then left it to dry it out in the sun and then put it in the tank and it was fine (the wood i got from the beach didn't have the white stuff on it though :-? )
  19. I can't kill them personally, I feel like a murderer I have to get someone else to flush them
  20. Well I guess every one has different ways of doing things  but can't say I will be rushing out to buy that book!!!!
  21. Good idea!! otherwise your not going to have happy campers (other fish  )
  22. I just treated (like 2 days ago) my fish with that exact same amount and they all look great!! now that is after I lost a few but I put that down to the worms and flukes not the meds And all I wanted to do was give up after losing 5 discus If it happens again though I think I will give up!!!!!
  23. Hi, I'm glad I just found this as I have had the exact same problem. A couple weeks ago I have a mystery death of one of my healthy female kribs, I was really shocked to find her dead and there was not really any explanation I did a 50% water change and just carried on as usual, since then no other deaths except…… I noticed that my red tail shark would hassle every fish including a 20cm pleco and a red finned shark (they were meant to be friends) then I came home last Friday and there was the red tailed shark DEAD he was sitting head up in the water vertically with his tail touching the stones and missing a few scales??? I figure that the pleco had enough of him as there isn't really any fish in his tank to beat him up????? :-? :-? :-? :-?
  24. And yea if he can catch you tetras he'll eat them! What size is your turtle tank? I'd recommend an external canister filter for the turtle, will keep the water in great condition. 8) When I first got my turtles I had an issue with my band new filter so they didn't have one for 3 weeks, but I just did daily water changes and they were fine. I also accidently left the heater off for a week and a half once; after cleaning the tank I forgot to turn it back on, they were fine they didn't even act any differently. Your definately not the only one thats had problems
