  1. Do you think it would survive submersed?
  2. I have always wanted an Asian tank, so I am doing a bit of a shuffle round and I am going to turn one of my 200L tanks into my Asian tank. I really want to use bamboo like this I was thinking Hygrophila for plants as wel as Bamboo Plant (Blyxa japonica) if i can get it. Or i have read about "lucky bamboo" which is a type of Dracenea that has been grown in tanks. If anyone knows where i can find some please let me know. And I was wanting to put my Bettas in there and I want to 'borrow' my boyfriends Kuhli and get it some friends. I was also thinking of adding gouramis (not sure which ones would be best), glass catfish rasboras dwarf neon rainbows (are they asian?) maybe clown loaches (how fast do they grow?) I want a sandy substrate (as all my other tanks are brightwater gravel)but im not sure what and where to find it. I want to use pieces of bamboo but i have read that thay rot and make a bad smell. Would there be any way to stop this? So any ideas or comments would be much appreciated.
  3. My female lost her male a little while ago (due to an unfortuante filter accident) and I feel sorry for her being all alone. Does anyone have any males that she could come and live with?
  4. I have an Asian tank in the pipelines and I have heard about a plant called "lucky Bamboo" which is not aquatic but has been grown in aquariums. I think it is actually some type of Dracenea? Well I was wondering if anyone has any or if anyone has tried it. If not does anyone know of any cool asian plants, I was realy hoping to go with the bamboo look.
  5. I have 3 random baby dageti who just turned up in my fry tank so if you still havent found one by the time they are a little bigger you can have one.
  6. And if your filters dont help there is this water settling stuff that i saw in the pet shop.
  7. aww no fair I had 2 boys so i got 6 more babies and it looks like they are all boys as well! Good luck! they are such cool little fishes.
  8. I just got some freshwater shrimp off trademe. They are kinda small so i put them in my fry tank. They are really cool. Does anyone know how they breed, so I can have more of the little fellows?
  9. Yeah limestone is really hard. I dont see much luck sculpting it.
  10. What kinda puffers do you have? I too am a poor student. But its not just the being poor its also the lack of space!!!
  11. I am another pacman ghost. Maybe we could form our own lil ghost club since we dont like outsiders
  12. Hey i have a slightly smaller cichlid tank and I have an Aquaone on it And it does a great job! And they are nice and quite. The good thing about a canister is that it doesnt take up room and look ugly inside the tank. I put my AquaOnes spray bar up near the top and find that it provides heaps of circulation and areation. I also run an aquaone in my community tank and actually had a problem with the circulation being so much it was uprootiing my plants, but thats all sorted now. I have Mbunas and Haps together, I got them all as babies and at the same time and have no problems, so i guess it can depend on the fish. Next you start thinking about substrate and PH buffers! Good Luck thay are great fun
  13. Rams, gbas, swordtails and fighters.
  14. What substrate are you using?
  15. And pick up a bag of dalton aquatic mix at the same time, chuck that in first then the sand and no problem growing plants!

  18. I saw it too!!! i have asked if they know what species it is. Hopefully we will get a reply!
  19. On another note. I was just having a look in my breeding tank, which has a hole lot of fighter babies in it and i noticed one that was different. It was larger a different shape and had stripes. It looks like a dageti fry? I had tried the dageti in there but i swaped them out in a few days coz my fighters were breeding in the community tank. Could i have a dageti baby in there? Or is it a mutant fighter?
  20. Yup i moved them so no problems there
