blue rams!!!

So... Our flatmate is moving out and it seems that we will be able to afford the rent by ourselves. So... FISH ROOM FOR ME!!!!! But i have to do it on the cheap cos i have to pay extra rent now. I was thinking maybe another big tank for cichlids and some smaller ones on those metal shelves for other stuff. Any suggestions??? Or offers of cheap tanks?

i have a whole lot of red ramshorns and they leave my plants alone. However i am forever squishing little brown ones that have somehow made their way into my tank.

My boyfriend got some from his work a while ago, because he thought they would be good in pockets to keep hands warm. I have found that they dont really stay warm for very long. I was considering using them if i got some fish while we we up in Rotorua/Tauranga, that way i could get a new one going when the first got cold. But i dont think they would be that great when shipping fish. I think a really important thing that some people forget to do is to write on the box that it needs to be morning delivery as i have had some arrive at 2 and 4.45 and they were pretty cold.

I dont have an air pump and my fishes are happy

I have found mine like it fresh better, tried frozen, boiled and microwaved but fresh is best.

I have changed to a planted tank with relative ease. Think the most important thing is getting a good substrate. I did my first gravel vac in the weekend, around the plants, and it was fine.

I think i have succomed to MTS. I now have 4 tanks in my little corner of the lounge. And I have been trying to figure out if i would be able to afford kicking out our flatmate and turning her room into a fish room. And then theres the extra electricity.... I hate being a student. I want more money, ohh and a bigger house. I think i need to win lotto! :lol:

yeah but if you really do need it you can get 2 litre bottles for around $80 so it may work out cheaper.

I had ideas for a dwarf cichlid tank or an asian tank, with bamboo in it.

doesnt pumice float?

would the be ok with rams and siamese fighters?

I am getting a pair of Gold Australe a pair of Nothobranchius Korthausae yellow and a pair of Gold gardneri. Yay!!!! Any advice???

I have the same problem with mine, cos we built that stand and we arent builders, but we havent had any probs. My boyfrind has also remarked "why are all the fish people so nice?" We think it must be because fish make u happy! :lol:

When i was a kid in Rotorua we used to go out to Lake tarawera at night, we would wade into the shallowsa and use torches to gind them and then just catch them with our hands. We used to catch crabs with out hands at the beach as well. :lol:

thanks guys! i was going to try and convince the family to come down here but its a bit inconvenient, should only be a week or two at xmas. I am going to try and make it to the kapiti-mana club night this month, so hope to see some of you!

Hey guys i was just wondering what everyone does when they go away. I have to go up to Rotorua for a long weekend and then there is the whole going home for xmas, and i was wondering what the best options are. I am just a bit paranoid that i will come home to a dead tank. Are feeding blocks ok or do i need to look at getting an auto feeder. There is only 7cm clearence between my tank and the top of my hood and all the ones i have been looking at are to big. :-?

I like to wiggle my fingers in fromnt of the cichlid tank in animates. They go crazy. And my boyfriend thinks that i look crazy doing it, so yay!
