I am about to give my 40th Donation. Yes they are like telesales but I dont find them annoying at all. You never know when you or someone you know may need blood.

You can always leave it in the sun for a day and then it should just brush off.

Help Livingart Wildlife Park (Tauranga)-DREAMS DO COME TRUE!

In your meeting with the Bank, just subtly recall to mind and then remind them of all those "feel good" adds showing BNZ in a helpful light................ And let them know how impressed you are by the extra mile the bank staff seem to go  Good luck and all the best guys -
http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/1-vt33 ... sc&start=0 Werent we all just discussing the cops in this thread? Who now wants to front up to this cops devastated family and call him a lazy quota hungry cop? I can only imagine the devastation this family is feeling and my full sympathy goes out to them. A P bust or not, he didnt deserve to die on the whim of some crazy that society now has to pay for!

thanks Phil, luckily we are on tank water so there are no added nasties, it is however usualy fairly soft. The Malawis are loving the PH but not so much the nitrates/ites and ammonia Will do another water change tonight and see how they are
-
Would definitely truck them or horse float them  The neighbors borrow my float all the time for cow transport (but never clean it  ) We wouldnt be fussed at all about colours, they are all really cute regardless.
-
Thanks all, I did use about half the existing water but obviously not enough  And it was all new gravel :-? Interesting re the amonia and the relation to high PH. Mine is sitting at about 8, so will the amonia reading I am getting actually be acurate?

I have set up a new tank and run it for a week or so with a new filter but existing media from an old but running filter. Put a few new inhabitants in and ran it for another week. Tested the water and all was good. I shifted everyone else and last night the ammonia, nitrate and nitrite were all off the charts. I did a 50 to 60% water change and everything seemed okay. But I tested it again this morning and while the nitrate and nitrite are much better, the ammonia is still really bad No-one is gasping at the surface nor lost colour but they are swimming up and down in the bubbles from the bubble walls which to me indicates a lack of oxygen?. Can I have too much filtration perhaps? It is a 4ft 220 litre tank and I have got an Aqua One 2400 filter going. The water is crystal clear and the tank looks a million dollars but something is wrong somewhere.

YES PLEASE!! We would probably only want 3 or maybe 4 max as we have 5 horses as well. Perfect for x-grazing and pasture management

can I ask how much weaners go for (if you ever decided to sell any?) as they would be great for a lifestyle block. Am genuinely interested and they would just be for pets too. We tried to "grow our own meat" but no-one in the house could do it, so we just sold them on and continue to buy meat from the supermarket

And it is more than fair that anyone is allowed to pass their opinion of cats. just as we all do, however what I was suggesting is that an unhelpful and derogatory comment is probably not required on a thread where someone is asking for help as they obviously like cats. If you have nothing nice to say.................... Im sure all our mothers can finish that sentence!

And that quality piece of advice, Im sure, will be appreciated on some forum somewhere, but probably not on this one, in this thread  sharronpaul, ask your vet for clomacalm, its like a cat and dog valium tablet. My cat is a bully and lies in wait for any one of the other 3 cats. He got to the point where the other cats were afraid to go outside. He went on a course of clomacalm and is much better. He is still a bit of an ar$e but much better.

Yes there may be SOME lazy cops, just as there are lazy people in every profession but I think our police force very much have their hands tied. We do have bylaws and we are ALL bound by them, including our police force. Please dont bag them all. These same cops sitting on the side of the road ticketing people may well be the same ones that one day have to turn up at someones door and tell them a family member is dead or be the one that has to enter into a situation that is putting their life at risk, for the sake of your right to grizzle and whinge about lazy cops.

Isnt the age of criminal responsibility in this country 14yo? Also, the parents can be held financially responsible until the child turns 18 or leaves home. Dealing with Insurance claims, we quite often hold parents responsible in court for their childrens actions if 16yo or under. damages like you have sustained should be sought through the disputes tribunal. Little sods.

I have about 45 bristles in my 3ft malawi tank. But only 10 of them are of the non edible size! My Malawis tend to leave them to do their own thing. Havent lost one yet. But then again, Dad hasnt let the babies leave the shell yet!
-
Ummmmmm, NO!!! How about, I give you directions to my house and YOU can catch one. I think the only thing the birds will catch would be a bullet from a local farmer They are so incredibly noisy. I do like Livingarts description of them, very appropriate.
-
They survive alright! There is probably about 15 of the buggers.
-
Not all mine but at the farm: 3 border collies (the bitch hopefully in pup again) 4 cats 5 horses 4 fishtanks 2 goldfish ponds (well 1 is a pond, the other is a small lake!) AND heaps of freakin wild cockatoos that do the flying screech across our place everyday heaps of pukekos and the odd wild bunny bought into the house as a gift from the cats.

I seem to have a tank full of randy fish! I have mocked my large male bristlenose for about a month now as he has claimed the most ridiculous shell as a house! It is one of those shells that winds around on itself and I imagine it would be like sleeping on a doughnut shaped bed of nails . The only way he can get out of it is to do this stupid looking reverse shuffle. Well he reversed shuffled out of it yesterday and bought about 40 little babies with him!!! And on closer inspection, the E.yellow that was holding isnt anymore and she has spat all hers into a little cluster of shells where no-one can get them, inlcuding her! . Dont know how long they will last But the other yellow still has a mouthful. And I cant catch the powder blue girl (socolofi) to put her in her own tank before she deposits her mouthful into the communal smorgasbord! And as for the bumblebees!! I wish the LFS had told me exactly how aggressive they would get. I have 2 pair and the females are being hassled non stop by the more dominant male.

 thanks  I am getting sick of seeing people slammed for the choices they have made. Lets help not hinder

And if you think he is pretty, then he IS pretty. Luckily for fishkeepers there are a variety of fish to choose from that some people like and others dont. Parrots included. There will always be some purists out there that will remain adamant that anything that differs from what nature readily produces should be culled. What a lot of people also seem to forget is that they were not born experts and that there will have been a learning curve somewhere in their fishkeeping and mistakes made that they wish they could remedy now. So you bought a Flowerhorn. So what!. Enjoy looking after him and learning about him. At least then you can be a little more informed when you come to making your next fish purchase. EVERYBODY has their own likes and dislikes and that is what makes fishkeeping fun.

Pick me, Pick me  The more the merrier in the big tank. We currently have 11. Would be interested in them if you decide to move them out. Cheeky huh

we have 2 very large ponds that may be able to home your goldfish but the problem would be catching them again when you wanted them back. One is roughly 6000 litres and the other is a natural catchment area that is even bigger. I can also speak to the powers that be and see if we cant help you out with the cattle? How many are there?
