  1. True, will be interesting to see how good they are.
  2. like these Zayne? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Electronics-photography/Video-cameras/Video-cameras/Other/auction-399890153.htm Ive ordered one, but not sure they're the real deal.
  3. There's several versions of those cams floating about on the web. Make sure you're getting the right one - check this thread: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1362692 Also, makes sure you get a fast enough micro-SD card, otherwise you'll get frame drops. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think class 6 or better is required - it'll be in that RCGroups thread somewhere This was taken with that exact cam, try watching it at 720 res to get an idea of the quality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFLY9M3_KeM/quote True cheers. They take great footage for what they are eh. The one on trademe seems a little different to the real one discussed on that forum. Tm one appears to be missing the .MOV file format and resolution numbers dont match up. Hmm
  4. Unreal. "The last time snow fell in Wellington is believed to be between 20 and 30 years ago" http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/5445265/Another-three-days-of-snow-for-Wellington crazy weather
  5. Sweet, no mellow yellow in my tank thanks  Have about 500 litres from last night. Will do some tests later, last week it had a trace of ammonia, but there was bird droppings in the spouting, which i have since scrubbed clean. Unless it was the pollen :dunno:
  6. Just curious if melted snow is all good to use for fish/water changes etc as, it is melting, it is filling my rain water tank. Also the snow seeems to have brought down some pollen, from pine trees maybe?... should be ok for water changes eh?
  7. :sml2: Ira this mornings view of the Tararua ranges Fair to say we got real snow unlike the Aucklanders :slfg: Local lady I spoke to recons its the first snow since 1939 From the ranges
  8. would these cameras be any good? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Electronics-photography/Video-cameras/Video-cameras/Other/auction-398742289.htm
  9. I went up the into the foot hills (Horowhenua area) this morning, as I had only ever seen snow that low once before. Not sure why i took a photo of a power pole but anyway Imagine been a frog today And then camera went flat and i forgot the spare battery, so no pics of the stunning hills from a distance  Thought that was cool, then this afternoon at about 3pm the snow came to town. It snowed for about two hours, still getting it on and off, about two inches on the ground. What a day
  10. nice find ... probably litoria ewingii (tree frog), if not then next most likely culprit would be raniformis (southern bell frog) for a small number can just plonk them in a large bucket. change half of the water slowly (via air line tubing) every other day. make sure fresh water is same temp as tadpoles water so minimal shock. if water starts to yellow your overdue for a water change. can use a filter, but don't want too much flow. especially with little tadpoles. uvb light is beneficial but questionable whether it is a 'must have', or not, for tadpoles. some thing like this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Pets-animals/Reptiles-turtles/Other/auction-399332403.htm if bell frogs: you can go for a higher uvb rated bulb.
  11. and one about a frog and a prince
  12. we should cross a kiwi with a seagull so it can fly away from predators
  13. if you have heaps, there must be excess food providing the snails the opportunity to reproduce so well. sometimes just feeding your fish less = less snails it is surpising how little fish can live off, and how much we like to over feed. feeding less generally makes for less maintenance required also. wouldn't waste my time with loaches, unless i wanted loaches of course. chemicals can work but side effcts weighed up against the negatives of having snails (generally very little). why worry.. :mbh:
  14. tuatara semen is better spent elsewhere :sage:
  15. ill take a jet, a glider and a turbine chopper for now :nilly: should get off youtube and do some work i guess :sml2:
  16. wow, those gliders are mad. amtiskaw: sick vids too
  17. Can only really get bells frogs (both species similar and fairly hardy) and brown tree frogs in NZ. Exoterra is minimal for bell frogs. given bell frogs size (upto 11cm) you need robust plants/decorations. Brown tree frogs are smaller (upto 4.5cm), medium to large exo terra is perfect. Being smaller they tend not to destroy plants as much so you can go all out with planting ferns and so on. But the tree frogs seem a little more temperamental, or at least i think so. Is completelty out of season now. Trademe may be worth keeping an eye on, but unfortunately wont be many around until spring/summer now.
  18. fish not colourful enough for you there? . . . or, are you trying to make it see in the dark so it eats day and night :sml2:
  19. litoria ewinigii / brown (aka whistling) tree frog have seen a few with yellow thighs, but don't recall seeing orange, or at least not as vibrant orange as that before. here's a young one i took a pic of last year. unrelated/ or at least from a different location to the above frog.
  20. watch out for trees. rc planes and trees don't mix
