  1. slow growing ime. below is a bit that broke off the main plant i have. that's growing at an ok rate .. original plant must be 6-12months old, has a couple of shoots out the side about half the size of the above one .
  2. i have a some growing in my frog tank. very nice  :nilly:
  3. Must be some merit to this viewtopic.php?f=40&t=42693&p=462910&hilit=incubation+temp+for+leopard#p462910 The albino frog surfaced here before its motherland - that i suspect has a much larger gene pool. parasites caused the mutation here but i did'nt tell you that Anything is possible .... until proven otherwise :sml2:
  4. "Same size as them"... must of been rather hungry! The only time i have seen frogs trying to eat siblings is when they are overly hungry. Like havnt been fed for a day or more .. and it is becoming matter of life and death. They are very resourceful, if really hungry they will pick off tadpoles too. Lots of food = no worries. They prefer crickets to siblings. Bell frogs possibly worse for it but they are not bad either if provided with adequate food.
  5. Yes --- at Wellington Zoo - having a check up - this morning 11am https://www.facebook.com/WgtnZoo?ref=stream
  6. just sounds like what youd expect in response to cold water?
  7. Welcome snapperhead are mussels even still in shops? apparently they have been recalled from one of the big chain stores recently ...
  8. swirly. http://beta.geonet.org.nz/
  9. Basking light (warmth) will encourage her onto the basking platform ... My little res are only at 20C atm but still bask all day long and are still eating. Basking temp would be a good 25C may be upto 30C I would increase water temp upto 26-28 if not eating much. cold chill may have upset them... especially if small. Also wouldn't recommend feeding at night time ... go for at least an hour before lights out at the latest. Feed early to mid morning then they can burn off the energy during the day. good luck wth the little beggers
  10. should only brumate if getting colder and or less light (will be unless you have a thermostat?). try telling these two that it's winter
  11. reducing daylight hours -pref over a few weeks- helps set the mood too.
  12. google gave me wings http://www.fishpond.co.nz/Books/Grow-Yo ... 0762429417
  13. it varies a lot due to some people keeping them at different temps to others. also size of feeder insect may create a big variance. feed what ever it will eat within 5-10mins a couple of times a day is probably a good guide..
  14. mean. i looked in to them. they seem to have a good rep. i know what you mean. some frogs do like to play who can eat the blasting water though :sml2:
  15. Jason is that a mist king setup you purchased? I made a cheapo version. these http://www.trademe.co.nz/health-beauty/ ... 887312.htm are also good for raising humidity for the likes of mosses etc just rig a tube to the tank. turned down it lasts a couple of days, running constantly, before having to refill. cranked up can fully mist out four foot enclosures - without fully saturating everything - just stick on timer to come on every hour or so
  16. i just chuck crickets in once or twice a week atm. pretty much always have some in there.
  17. It is great how you have laid it all out like that. Your obviously a natural. It is inspiring. I'm actually serisously thinking about finishing (ie starting background) a viv i started a year, or two, ago now.
  18. 9-10inch beardie should be on adult insects. there is merit to feeding smaller bugs to smaller animals. especially hatchlings. adult brown tree frogs seem to prefer 10mm crickets or smaller as an example. most of the adults i put in seem to get ignored. but agree no need to be silly about it. the between the eye thing is just a guide and for novice's and i think it serves a purpose. after the first few months most herps will comfortably take large insects. I notice the opposite. when feeding large animals on loads of fair sized prey they seem to have consistant stools. feed large ones you can often make out wings and what not in the stool. feed mealworms by the 100 and you get chitin dynamite :sml2:
  19. I tried my best. Still stand by everything I said. Had nothing to do with tm ad
  20. so you would feed hatchlings adult locusts and crickets?
