  1. tat morph some of the patterns are fluro like to look at in real life 8)
  2. :spop: ..... have thought about looking into bulk - but then the little tubs from the shops are convenient - last months & dust heaps of bugs - so have never bothered. .... what's everyone else using?
  3. It is bit of a lottery with these frogs, but 1500 isn't much to recover. Bit depends on what was causing the deformities when I had them - I only gave him those frogs earlier this year - if something simple then it could be possible to eliminate and get great numbers from them. And possibly get new morphs all together. .. I have tried changing a few simple things from diet to environment etc but keep ending up with the majority, if not all, deformed. Could just be a case of eliminating parasites and or out crossing to normal greens again then back. :dunno: Good challenge if nothing else.
  4. Looks like hen and chicken fern. Great photos - neat spot down there.
  5. i don't get the cat ones? it could stress the bds with the cat staunching them out like that ...
  6. seen some eating snails the other day ---- shell and all. mkes sense but i would of thought theyd spit the shell out like the skinks often do...
  7. whistlers are known to call in frosty conditions. can also survive being frozen solid some in nz -
  8. if u mean the lighter one above .... it died a couple of weeks after that pic  guess they reach breeding size in 6months to a year - 2 if treated like starvin marvin
  9. could also grow some juncus pallidus (or any fast growing pond plant) down one end of the pond. it forms a good mat you can just thin out as it grows out over the pond. https://www.google.co.nz/search?q=juncu ... 00&bih=785 cyperus also grows well in conjunction with the above. adding duckweed and or azolla to the pond as often as possible also helps. red ears will eat it too. plants suck up some of the excesss nutrients and cut out light = less to feed algae. longnecks love making tracks all through the juncus too :smln:
  10. raised some mutant aurea in with some ewingii a few months back.. chain of thought was - the ewingii i raise never have deformities so either just more robust, better dna or resistant to suspected parasite. results were 2/3 tadpoles with bent back bones - very similar to what i see in mutant aurea. but check this out --- merely coincidence or something more to it - who really knows.
  11. Fascinating stuff. Would love to see more photos - especially of the reeves natural habitat They already farm some for food by the looks of it ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_pond_turtle

  13. and a crap load would be pushing it. :sml2:
  14. "Q: What causes yellowing? A: If the plant is exposed to too much sun even once in it's life time it will turn yellow. During the winter if it is kept in extremely cold water it will turn yellow. If it is infected it will turn yellow." http://askville.amazon.com/bamboo-stalk ... d=54045491 who knows, but mine are doing well at about 20-22C....
  15. so has anyone actually checked to see if this is myth or an actual law....
  16. yep and frog fertiliser on the other leaves.
  17. Chytrid morph :sml2: The love bird morph sounds similar to these blue green tree frogs. http://www.sciencephoto.com/media/378348/enlarge
  18. An imaginary one. na not sure exactly. may not have been parasite induced either at the end of the day. merely a theory. at this stage anyway. Black blue tongue skinks are unreal looking. check this out, not best pic but ill be dammed http://bluetonguelizard.com.au/mating-a ... e-tongues/ gafa taped the females - the things ppl do :sml2: :rotf:
