    Dumerilli Pic

Hmm well we won't go down that road... :-? Long story, with a somewhat, fatal ending :-?
  3. Wicked 8) fingers crossed they make awesome parents...
  4. I like to feed fresh shrimp from the fisheries... would feed that over beef anyday.... 8) Hmmm natural in wild..... fish climb out of water and butcher a cow.... hmmm probably not
  5. Look like angel eggs to me.... is the angel defending the area? I can't see 100% in pic on my laptop screen, but the eggs looking fertile? I thought I saw a few along the top that looked a nice light yellow/orange. Not sure if it is the pic or not tho.
  6. Got some gorgeous Dwarf Flags up here... cute little blighters 8) And you have Borelli down there!!! Why that's just what I am needing!! Always the way huh...
  7. Why.... a nice little pair of Dwarf Flag Cichlids or some Apisto's of course Cute little tank 8)
  8. Couldn't have said it better Freakyfish... and definately a much less unsettling method for younger members to put their fish down 8) georgeous says: He grins as he says it....
  9. Nics are generally nice natured, but boy they can pack some punch and own a tank if they want to (generally the males are alot more aggressive than females), speaking from experience, we have kept adult Nics.. however, yeah with a Texas in there throwing his weight around, they will certainly back right off. Definately a nicely set up tank tho 8)
  10. firenzenz - Will make an enquiry to admin over creating a sticky catfish species thread.
  11. Cool set up for your "chickalids".. 8)

  13. Wow thanks for sharing, there are some beauty fish, but gee they packed in like sardines in a can
  14. My fav fish for character is actually not a freshwater species/family... It is marine... Pufferfish... We have a Stars and Stripes Puffer and he's hilarious, I would swear that he is human who reincarnated as a Puffer
  15. An amazonian peaceful community would be nice, with a nice sand substrate and plants.. with natural looking pieces of slate and rocks, and coves.. with apistos, and pretty tetras. Your bumblebee gobies are a brackish fish, and should be kept brackish IMO.. they thrive in the conditions that they require.. There are two species of bumblebee goby that are available in fish keeping.. both are best suited brackish... yet one will tolerate fresh water more so than the other, I have never actually studied what species we have come into NZ, no doubt the one that is more tolerant of freshwater conditions. Bumbleebee gobies are also nippy and grumpy, and rather territorial  You could however, go with a couple of nice bichir to grow up Just be careful what you have as tank mates, because most of the above they will mow down  Keep us posted on what you decide, revamps are exciting  8)
  16. Sponge filter, bare bottom tank, breeding cone or just let them spawn on the tank side if desired, heater, well thats we had, others may do things differently, we also had a stocking full of aquarium peat in tank. Some people have potted plants in their tank also. HTH
  17. Ours have spawned in a 600 long tank (however, can't recall the width or height), we just placed a breeding cone in on bare bottom and the discus were comfortable enough to spawn no problems... they definately seemed happy enough.
  18. We have freshwater crays outside in a pond... a very heavily rocked up built up pond, 600 deep... about 1000 litres, run a sump on it, keeps the water very clear... I keep about 5 crays in there, they have their own territory, amazing to watch interaction and feed time, we also have a reasonable size school of Inanga... very cute... As stated before, you aren't allowed to sell freshwater cray in NZ unless they are farmed. There are freshwater crays for sale in some LFS as the crays have been farmed and purchased from the legalised institute that bred them.
  19. Faces only a mother could love  Very nice, thanks for sharing the pics, they in beautiful nick..

  22. I don't think....... I LOVE!!!! Looks fantastic pre moonlight and moonlit! 8) Good one Casper 8)
  23. I forgot to mention earlier, we keep eheim pro, aqua one CFs and Aquis range, and different size fluvals, and after finishing off our fish shed, we didn't need as many canisters, and it was the fluvals that we got rid of. We haven't had many problems with canisters over time, but when we have had, it has been fluval that has featured everytime and been a right royal pain in the behind.. :-?
  24.  Caryl... I actually wish Aliens had of been the reason...
  25. Yeah that sounds real familiar living art, a bird lady out in Hastings told me the same thing about sexing cockateils... I had a cockateil at one stage but gee whizz, our Alexandrine just mimicked the cockateil something chronic, but many knotchs louder...  We just have our Alexandrine now and love him to bits, hes much better on his own, when there are others around, he tries to compete too much Good luck with whatever you decide to do and hope things work out perfectly 8)
