IF YOU HAVE PROBS FINDING ROCKS i HAVE SOME ALMOST SLATE COOL LOOKING ROCKS IN THE GARDEN YOU CAN HAVE A FEW, DEPENDING ON HOW MANY YOU NEED, i HAVE THEM PILED IN MY BIG TANK AND HAVENT HAD ANY PROBS! WITH CAREFULL PLACEMENT NOT EVEN MY LARGE PLEC CAN MOVE THEM

if the fish are in another tank?? use the filter media/filter from that tank on the new one use the water from it as well. whats going in it how many L is the tank and what is the filtration?? I never use any cycle and usually just use a 'Cycled' cannister on a new tank for a few days to help, and use as much water from there previous HOME, and dont do any water changes for a couple of weeks (some people say too do lots of water changes, but each to there own :lol: IMO it allows the bacteria to establish b4 adding new water/chemicals if you use tap water

missed out on the BGK but good to see peoples opinions, My clown dosent have trouble getting food, have even seen it take shrimp from one of the Jewels mouths 8) Yeah sharn I know I shouldnt be getting MORE fish as Ill be away for about 6 months but I have started to get rid of quite a few, and wont let a good deal pass me by 8)

Ive currently got a clown Knife in with an O, 3 jewels, 2 large plecos, one female con and a whole lot of B/n, one GBA and was wondering if it would be ok to add a Black ghost knife theyre all in a 1000l and currently get along (feeding time sometimes brings out the fight in them but otherwise sweet! Also would putting in another female con be ok ( had a male but as soon as it settled in in was hassleing my clown :evil: ) had to pull out all the rocks and do a bit of holding my breath to catch him

the internals power head would be matched to the uv Watts? and the max flow for a inline would be what its says/ ie a 3000LPH UV filter will be effective at up to 3000LPH? and is there a prob with having too little flow, do they over heat or kill off good bacteria?? Have done a little reading and after the sump is deff the way (meant to be filtered water)

not hijacking but back to the original Q for people that use them, or have, whats the best a in line or internal? Im going to get one for my 1000L just to help so not going too big but was thinking of useing an internal in the sump or having one inline on one of the overflow hoses/ on one of the return lines/ or on a cannister that wil be running in the sump??

I get a electric shock (only a tingle) whenever I have my hand in my sump and arm againts my metal stand my last setup this was caused by a cracked heater but this time useig a multimeter Ive tested for Voltage in the water earthed through the stand and with everything unplugged tested for power which came up with nothing and tryed testing with each individual item pluged in by them selves ---everything gave a Voltage reading , all items coming to 75V even the air pump which is only connected to the water by air hose gave a reading. ANY IDEAS?? maybe faulty extension cord or multi boxes????

I have read that the cord between the control gear and the lights shouldnt be more than 1m? is this true? working on this can I assume the longer the cable the less efficent the light? or does it not matter?

well heres my new approach -JUST LEAVE IT- from now on all Ill be doing is adding 4 drops of PMDD a day and leaveing everything else alone no water changes-maybe a jug a week.. and feed heaps as this is all I do on all my other tanks (minus the ferts) and the plants grow like crazy. have applied this to the tank and things are starting to recover fish are still happy plants are getting some new leaves and the new grass is starting to spread,

is there any reason I cant use a pool pump and sand filter as my return pump from my sump? would be ideal I would have thought??

Ive just added my 12in common plec in with a 8in and theyre at it, ( in a 1000l with rocks) Im hoping they dont knock any rocks off into the glass and smash the tank :evil: do they find a pecking order or do I need to seperate,not to worried about the plecs -battle scares are cool,but the other fish might get in the way, ???????????????

you may be right rogan I also started to use the flourish at about the same time as things went wrong will do a water change and cut back to just pmdd. as for the BN dont you have them coming ou your ears I think you should let me have the breeding pair for my 1000L :lol:

My planted has taken a dive (again) the only thing Ive done is clean out the filter but double dosed my ferts to add back the nutrients. everything looks like its been eaten, do fish sometimes like a change so go for the plants? MY amazon swords are still pumping (not pearling anymore ) and sending out new plants all the time (maybe sucking up all the ferts?) I have also noticed a couple of small snails popping up (only after adding some plants from a unamed persons tank-not blaming them might not be from them) -had them b4, more and bigger, but didnt affect the plants! in the tank is angels, BN, gBA, neons, a cocatoo, mollys, swords,1 gourami, 1 flying fox and I think thats it. has 2 150w 6400 MH, DIY co2 (always pumping out bubbles) PMDD flourish and some fert balls. I have my o2 on at night to let the fish breath. ideas

I got my 6400 DEs from deepblue, they do the job (get my swords pearling) but would have liked 8000K as 6400 is still a little on the YELLOW sidefor my liking (and its all about personal taste ) TM, Me 3 if you can get 8000

heres the start of my filter system... can I place bioballs in the overflow part to stop the noise of the water flowing over (waterfall noise)) this will increase my biological filtering? I have read most filtering has a pre filter to stop crap getting to the bio? my other sump has the bio first with no probs! Once the water has passed through the bioballs it will go to a trickle tower with more biological stuff ie noodles and then into a tank that I would like to set up with java moss (to soak up nutrients) and some fish/fry to eat any food that goes over the overflow, with its own little light. Ive actually found live food/fish still alive in my sump of another setup after they went through my overflow strainers then the water will go through a pile of wool and back up to the main tank. Any ideas

Ive taken lots of photos with no luck can any photo gurus give me some help the camera I have has adjustments for EV, priority, sharpness, flash/time, and what lighting cond, all the other settings are pretty obvious ie quality ect but have played around and still cant get good photos that Im willing to post (just looks like a tank with bluryness inside it)

hey ant Ive had one go like that in my community planted tank with no idea why as well but the one in my small tank grows well (8000K bulb no ferts no co2 just fish plants and gravel) I wonder if they dont like too much ferts sounds odd but ????????????????????????

Ive got a clown knife in a 4 ft I go on the fact ill either have a bigger tank or sell him once he gets too big which will take a while so enjoy while I can and have an excuse to upgrade later/ from 3, 4 ft side by side made too look like a 12 ft to actually having a 12ft be carefull what goes in with them they take out fish shop size tiger barbs
