Ok when the eggs have just been layed do they have a clear jelly substance around them as when moving a peice of wood n my newest tank I noticed somethig that I thought at first was old mouldy food :evil: but looks like it could be some little orange eggs covered in some goo ? Placed the log back down and left it, but the one male in the tank dosent seem to hang around it. ANY THOUGHTS?

Ive just set up another tank inside not quite as big (140 odd liters) but have a couple of spare heaters to help me through the cold months, Might get some insulation though?

Have been doing a bit of reading on the UGF and decided its not for me even though it used to work well (when my tank was being cleaned out once a month) but since Ive added a few rocks and plants and stopped stripping the tank down completely all the time it dosent seem to be doing the trick. The rocks cause dead spots on the UGF which is meant to house bad bacterias? The LFS didnt try to sell me anything but did recommend removing it. Done a complete strip and rearrange (using about 20% of the old water) and will be gettin the water tested in about a week

Just had my water tested by living waters and my nitrates are through the roof 80ppm phosphate 5ppm and ammonia 1ppm and as I already now low PH of 6.2. Will be ripping out the UG filter which I think is the cause of the high nitrates?

Thanks is there any reason for only running O2 at night, Ive set up my CO2 so if it tips it will fall and pull the hose out of the tank so no probs with that

Hi been reading the forums and got too much info now Im thinking I need to make some changes? >I have started using a coke bottle CO2 sys with the outlet into the inlet of one of my filters, should I be gettin rid of my 02 airstone. >Ive also just started using flourish and read to take the carbon out of my filter as it takes out the nutrients is this correct? >My lights are old workshop fluros, It has twin 65 daylight bulbs but are about a million years old should I be replacing the bulbs :-? The tank is 47in W by 16in H by 15in D, has UG filter a Cosmo 1900F internal with the CO2 going into it and a millenium 2000 set up with noodles Carbon then wool. the light over hangs both ends of the tank by about 2". :roll:

I have two mature looking males and 3 small females but I thinks theyre all related (got them all from the same tank) And would like to know if they will breed, and if not can I do a swap with someone local to get some that arent related. :-?
