  1. well yuck, just fitted the 14000k and everything looks off one bulb is a crisp white slightly blue and the other is completely blue(excluding my white molly and neons theyre glowing) so will be selling the bulbs and light units and on the look out for some 8000k

  6. Ive done quite a bit of reading on different kelvin ratings and come to the conclusion that Im going to go with the kelvin rating that best suits my eyes (well close enough anyway) I currently have a 15000K fluro that the plants dont seem to mind so when I install my 2 150W MH ill be fitting them with 14000k bulbs as my computer froze b4 I could buy the 6400K ones on TM (being cheap I dont want to pay retail prices) will let you know how my plants do with the 14000s. Also what lighting is everyone else useing (for interest sake) I was using 2 5ft biolux and one 4 ft 15000K for a while but have cut back to the 15000 until my bulbs turn up. and my mini planted/baby tank (AR126) has a 8000K old bulb and really brings out the colours of the plants
  7. yea evil its him was a beauty, everyone commented on him, hes still alive but doesnt seem to be getting better resting alot as I think the spiraling would be wearing him out and making him dizzy :-? hope he dosent die as hes my fav fish (in the community tank))))
  8. any idea on what to do ie meds or do I ride it out and hope for the best
  9. The only changes made in the past few weeks have been one flying fox added and run my MH for a day
  10. HELP my male Cockatoo has started spiraling when it swims. one of its eyes seem to be looking up and the other down. Any ideas . I have moved him to a smaller tank (less to dose) and dosed with melafix and stress coat. it started happening yesterday but seemed to go away, now its permanant ???????????????????
  11. does anyones Flying Fxs eat there plants as since adding one to stop an out break Ive noticed a few of my plants have been nibbled at
  12. My sword has shot out some long runners and starting new plants along the stalks, ie leaves and roots can I cut them off and replant or do I pull the stalk down so it runs along the base and let them plant themselves and once developed cut them and replant?
  13. the fish all have the same water parameters at the mo maybe thats why the pulchers wont breed? sounds like the pulchers will have to stay in there 2 ft
  14. Ive got a female and male Neolamprologus pulcher, male cockatoo and an Apisto (not sure on full name/sex)?(blue in colour) think its a male would I be able to keep all 3 in a 3 ft tank theyre currently in seperate tanks but Im doinga bit of a change around????
  15. get a clown knife and give it a diet of just live food/ helps keep my platy nos down
  16. that was a bit harsh IRA :-? I agree with bandk bulk up the media to slow the rate. only clean half the media at a time. my ar126 (baby tank) has 2 layers of wool one always dirty to slow the flow and be the bacterial media and one that is cleaned and rotate them
  17. YEAH NEVER HAD A PROB WITH MY PLECO BUT I GUESS HE COULD HAVE ACCIDENTLY KNOCKED THE CLOWN AROUND THE WOODIVE GOT IN THERE HAS SOME BITS WHEE IF PUSHED INTO OR SWAM INTO AT HIGH SPEED COULD CAUSE SOME DAMAGE :-? WILL GET SOME MELAFIX AND HOPE FOR THE BEST

  19. i THINK WHILE MOVIMG STUFF IN MY TANK i HAVE DAMAGED MY CLOWN KNIFE   IT HAS WHAT LOOKS LIKE A GASH IN FRONT OF ITS BOTTOM FIN ALONG ITS STOMACH. AND LOOKS AS THOUGH ITS RUBBED ITS BACK/TOP ALONG SOMETHING GIVING IT A WHITE SCRAPPED APARANCE. iS MELAFIX MY BEST BET AT HELPING IT STAY ALIVE SEEMS TO BE SWIMMING AROUND OK AT THE MO BUT ITS IN A TWIN 300L (600L) SETUP SHARING A SUMP SO DONT WANT INFECTIONS SPREADING?

    Sumps

oops almost fryed a heater and pump in sump   the water level dropped and the heater looks burntout (melted the holder) but still works fine as for the pump its still chugging along even thouh it sucked a little air OOPPPSSS
  22. the one i got is 6400k and puts out a blue light. its very bright and says its equivalant to 100w it lights up a room better than a normal 100w. Ive got MH fittings (but need bulbs) EXPENSIVE  technically id think these bulbs would be sweet even if to just light the tank running and buying cost would be chap and would have thought thed last for ages????
  23. OK can anyone tell me why the 6400k energy saving 18w ''(that puts out as much light as a 100w)'' isnt ideal for a planted tank ie $5 to buy and up to 80% cheaper to run than a household bulb????????????????????? 2 or 3 of these instead of 2 metal halides and instant saving of $45
