  1. Dang, I can't decide which one I like the best... It's between Creamsicle, Grateful Dead, & Gumball Machine Cracker PJ, what's your favourite?
  2. You can buff the scratches out, they do this at the National Aquarium. Otherwise, you could be ultra careful like Steve Weast.
  3. This guy's tank is acrylic: http://www.oregonreef.com/sub_tank.htm I think the calcs may be different if you are just using glass/acrylic for a front panel. You could ask these guys: http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/hi-fro ... 13954.html

    New Sand

I just rinsed my aragonite sand well in a bucket to get the powdery stuff off, then chucked it in - carefully, mind you. Don't know if this was the right way to do it, but it didn't seem to have any ill effect. I put in about an 25mm worth depth wise, on top of my existing sand.
  5. You can stick it together with Sellys Aqua Knead It, I get mine from Mitre 10. If you want tall thin structures you could drill the rock and stick it together with some sort of plastic rod and superglue.
  6. Yep, can't remember the name of the cattery, either. Nice cats Dragon28, unusual colours.
  7. Hmmm.. how come we don't have a sticky for this in our forum? Here you go, complete with pictures. Go to Photobucket.com and create yourself a user. On your computer, make sure the images you want to post are no larger than 650 pixels wide, and 72dpi resolution, and are jpegs, this saves space and time in regard to loading up pics both on this forum and in Photobucket. If you are using Photoshop, use the 'Save for Web' facility to cut down the file size by stripping out the extraneous info which is not needed with your imges, such as type of camera you have used, its settings, what the rego number and version of Photoshop you are using, etc. In Photobucket go to the upload page and select your images as prompted: Then click 'upload', you can upload multiple images by clicking 'add more photos' Navigate to where you have kept your files: and select them - you can only select one at a time if you are doing multiples, but at least it soesn't upload them after each selection. If you want to create sub albums, do this before you post any links to the forums, otherwise the links are broken - so be tidy FIRST! When you want to post to the forum, go to your Photobucket album and click on the 'IMG Code' tag at the bottom. Click it once to copy it, then just paste it into the reply box where you want it. If you want to check that it has worked, or check your spelling, use the 'Preview' button before you submit your reply
  8. Nah, he came from Hastings, but he is a lesson in not researching your breeders first. We told some friends who we bought him of, and after they had picked themselves off the floor and stopped laughing and mopping up tears from the corners of their eyes, they told us about her rather disreputable cat breeding antics.. Ricky will not follow you around unless he's hungry. If you pick him up he moans so much that the kids call him 'Bagpipes'. When you call him, it's 'talk to the butt' as he flounces off in the opposite direction with his tail in the air. And all he does is sleep on the bed all day - oh, and if he is outside, he will make a special effort to come inside to use the dirt box..
  9. I notice that with the Ferropol, tells you how much to dose, but not how often! Flourish Excel is every day or every other day, but when I dosed Ferropol every day, my water turned green! Re you bossy male, with six females to keep him occupied, you'd think he'd behave a bit more civil towards them! My male is a bossy turkey as well, but some of the last batch of fry were male, so they are busy flaring at eachother, instead of chasing the girls into the moss at the bottom of the tank.
  10. If your tank is fairly new, the algae thing should sort itself out in a few months, it's just a matter of patience and not overfeeding! I use Ferropol and Flourish Excel, but it is a tricky thing to try and get the right amount to dose. What you are trying to acheive is just enough ferts to keep the plants ticking along and using up all the nurtients in the water so the algae can't grow. Depending on where you got your plants from, they may be struggling to convert from emersed conditions to being under the water all the time, this seems to take a lot out of them. I have a 64l planted tank that is fairly new, it's had the green hair algae thing, then the green water thing - which has only just cleared after a couple of months, and now the Ambulia is looking a little pale, so I will have to start some ferts up again. It is also over-run with Brown Ramshorns, which is becomming annoying to say the least!
  11. I have noticed that if I feed my WCMMs twice a day, the green hair algae starts growing. Mine are picky little beggars, and very rarely eat food off the substrate. I also have a fair amount of Riccia floating around on the surface, and the flake food gets stuck in it and doesn't sink. I have two Red Ramshorns in there which I am trying to breed, along with quite a few more pointed shelled ones, whose name eludes me at the moment. The Ramshorns seem to do really well in the cooler water. The snails help clean up any leftover food.
  12. This is Gary, curled around the back of the laptop to get more heat, and basking in the glow of the screen. Here she is denuding the toilet roll, just as well it wasn't a full one. Here's her daughter Mandy when she was cute and little. Mandy with Ricky - the most unsocial Ragdoll I have ever come across! And last, but not least - weight wise, anyway! - is Tom, currently on loan to a friend on rat patrol, and dominating their two dogs.
  13. Hmmm... So no fishy races in a bucket then, you guys! I remember cricket (as in insect) fights in a bucket - but we never got to eat the looser!
  14. Ahhh, be careful, though, you know what they say about the Cantonese - they will eat anything with legs except a table, and anything with wings except an aeroplane!
  15. Carefully! Make sure they are 230v ones first, and don't let it fall into the tank.
  16. Bugger... Could it have been the heat that got to it, Skippy?
  17. No sump, Helifax. It's a 105l tank, holds about 85l of water + rock and sand.
  18. So is this stuff temperature related? I've got a real good crop all over the sand too.
  19. Here you go, Evil. I need some corals that aren't green or pink! Cyano appeared with a vengence two days ago when the tank temp got up to 28.5. Oh, and Evil, can you stop changing your avatar every day... It damn confusing!

    Anenomes

No fair, suphew, yours has bubbles! Mine has turned into a long tentacled tank invading monster!
  21. At least we don't have stamp duty here...
  22. Lol, Ira Most of the people on these boards collect their own, or use ASW. Some have some trailer/pump setups - you could possibly 'bribe' one of them to get you some? Which part of Jaffaland (Auckland) are you looking at moving to?
  23. Except that 'aye' is pronounced the same as 'eye', not 'a'.
