  1. All the people that come into my bedroom (fishroom ) ask 'how do you sleep with all that noise?' I have 3 air pumps running (2 doubles 1 single) in my bedroom, and they are not quiet, but i don't even hear them. I got used to it, and now i dont care. Mind you, im a very deep sleeper
  2. Um, i dunno, usually comes out a week before the meeting, and the meeting is the last saturday of the month. Do you have the account details and/or are you a member yet?
  3. Yea was gunna ask on NZhondas but thought id see what people here say first (anyway, david_r and evil_elmo are both NZhonda people who are hard out into their cars so they will know. I don't want to pull the gearbox out, but id say that it will probably come to that, although id much prefer not too!!! Aligning the pressure plate will probably be the hardest part..... Im gunna need to buy some axle stands first too, as i dont have any lol. Last car i did at home was only a head gasket, everything else i have done at work with hoists etc. And yea, this car has a fairly large engine bay, but a smallish motor so thats cool
  4. Infact, scrap the $150 for the regulator idea, and get one for $55 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 137045.htm It will cost you that in ingredients for DIY co2 in 3 months time anyway probably........
  5. With the amount of money you will be spending on ingredients, the amount of effort it takes, and the much higher risk of things going out of control and the levels going up, down and all over the place, you may aswell spend $150 or so on a single gauge regulator and needle valve off trademe, then rent a bottle from BOC for $10 a month, and you have instant co2; extremely reliable, extremely safe, no effort, no risk, doesnt cost tooooo much, a bottle lasts ages and altogether its WAAAAAAAYYY better :breath:
  6. So ive gone and bought another car that has a stuffed engine, but it also comes with another engine for it, all ready to drop in, minus the gearbox (need to use the one thats in the car ATM). The second hand engine to put in has been fully reconditioned and rebuilt. Im gunna be putting it in myself whilst i have nothing to do, and before i start my apprenticeship next year, but was wondering if it would be easier/better to take the gear box out of the car or not. (its manual BTW) I would prefer not to as ive never realy taken one out of a car, whereas ive had engines in and out before, sometimes with the gearbox already on it, and sometimes with it in the car. Would it be too hard to align the clutch etc if its still in the car? am i better to pull the gearbox out and try put it in with the gearbox on it? What would you do? Oh and p.s. Its a honda accord :-? :-?
  7. Sorry i was thinking of something different, ie the 3mm glass thread. Yea a tank may hold water if its made of 3mm glass, but theres a very high possibility that it will go bust at any time with any sort of knock etc. When i read your 'you can't beat the maths behind it...' statement i instantly thought 'well can you?'. Now i actually think about it a bit more, i guess you can't, as long as you use it correctly (ie figure out what thickness you need to make it a 3.8 + safety factor) I was thinking about the lower safety factors that the maths says will hold water, but may not physically.... Did you understand anything i just said? And no, im not good at calc, why you ask?
  8. Im not sure i agree with that, but i can't explain why
  9. I say otherwise!!! Nothos look way better than anything else!!!! But yes, id definately reccomend starting with a non-annual species (the kind that breed in mops)
  10. whats wrong with the Temp being at 28* for a little while? That should have been perfectly fine......
  11. A female will get vertical bars if she is in the presence of a male, and is ready to spawn. It sounds like a female to me
  12. .... Simply Amazing http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/gener ... japan.html
  13. Just cos you have a broken arm doesn't mean that you can mis-spell words though
  14. Yea, she they must have been real close to spawning for her to drop them in the container like that! I quite like this site ---> http://www.bcbetta.com/ Has lots of cool photos, how to's and everything else you should know. A good site to bookmark!
  15. Is it slimey and/or does it smell realy bad?
  16. I will be able to get a pic of mine as they are in a much smaller tank than Newfish has hers in. I will get some and post them later
  17. What kind of killies were they? I think they'd make a great addition to your tank!!!!
  18. I think theres green phantoms here too. King tigers ive seen for $200 or so each in the pet shops. The others would be at least that if you manage to find any.......
  19. SCWD can be internally plumbed too
  20. Id go for more lighting than that if you want to plant hard out. In my 3 footer (which is only 400 high) I will soon be having a 36W, two 24W's and possibly even another 24W if i can fit it without it becoming impractical.
  21. Looks wicked, well done! P.S. Move the co2 ladder behind the driftwood!!!!

    new tank

Yea im sure someone will be able to give you a starter culture of microworms. If you dont manage too find any in a couple weeks i can send some to you because hopefully i will have a few cultures going by then. Just making new ones tonight. You can buy large amount of brineshrimp, as it will keep for a long time, and will end up cheaper in the long run anyway, but its much easier to buy it in small amounts. I bought a 1 pound tin of brine shrimp eggs (not decapsulated) and im guessing it will last me about two years of constant daily hatching (im hatching it out all the time to feed all of my fish + fry)
  23. Hey Dude. I dont know much about NTD so did a bit of reading and found this which is quite helpful It says that cichlids and cyprinids can both get it, but does not mention catfish at all. I would think that they could probably be carriers though. I will keep reading and see if i can find out more Reference: http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/disea ... isease.htm EDIT: Not alot more help but found this too which Caryl posted on a thread here a little while back
