  1. I have read in a few places that you shouldn't feed Africans baby brine shrimp because it has too much mucus or something and is bad for them, but i have also read that people feed it to their baby's to bring them up. I think i recall Ryan talking about bringing his baby demasoni up on decapsulated brine shrimp, along with other stuff, and i have demasoni from him I always have freshly hatched bbs ready every 12 hours, and i always have excess so i feed it too all my other fish in my community tanks (once I've fed the killies and other fry of course) and every now and again i squirt a incy little bit into my Demasoni tank and they go absolutely NUTS over it. they all come out from the rock work instantly, and all go right up near the surface and munch it all back as fast as possible, but i try to not do it too much because i thought it was bad for them, but they love it. Does anybody else feed BBS to their Africans at all? I have a pair of Neo brichardi (ok pulchar  ) and im sure they'd love it too. Id love to be able to feed it to them more as they love it,and i always have heaps of the stuff hatching/hatched people experiences?
  2. Oh yea dont get me wrong, they are wicked fish, but yea, 5" plus is getting fugly  One of the brightest coloured fish ever lol
  3. Yea some 'Pulcher' would be cool in that tank. And yea, i dont like the big Yellows, but i do like them when they are still young!
  4. Yea if you think you are up to it, then fix it. I know i would, as ryan says, i always have heaps of glass lying round
  5. oh and yea, id use thicker than 5mm to patch it, and id patch as much of the bottom face as possible to reduce stress on just one area

    new tank

Yea seashell would be fine. just put some in a stocking in your filter or something. You will have to replace it every now and again as it will slowly disintegrate. probably every few months
  7. I would replace the whole bottom pane. Is it worth risking it? Very easy to do.

    new tank

If i were you i woudlnt even bother with GH and KH. Just get your pH up by buffering the water (use limestone or some sort of calcium/aragonite sand) and the other levels will be fine. I wouldn't try raising things with baking soda etc as most of them are just temporary fixes. SOOOOO much easier to just have a buffer in the tank or filter, and not have to worry about it.....
  9. Yea Demasoni are definately my favourite  And if you want some, get them off Ryanjury. His ones are awesome and all the fry are perfect! good price too!
  10. http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_labido.php Once the yellows get realy big you may have to get a bigger tank or sell them. They can get pretty big. Demasoni are a good choice for a smaller tank. You could keep a group of 12 Dems in that 3 footer easily. 8)
  11. Thats what i did and i got 149. I zoomed in on each part to make sure i got any that were realy close together and may have looked like one when zoomed out 8)
  12. Pft, i was spot on man! And no i dont need anymore Cory fry Got enough as it is!
  13. Yea its either 148 or 149. dunno where the others went wrong, but they are WAY out
  14. And to ad to what Ryan said, you need lots of money if you were to buy adult fish. You would be looking at hundreds and hundreds!
  15. Look like golden pencils to me. they colour up beautifully
  16. Get a coke bottle (or similiar) and cut the bottom off it. Turn it upside down and mount it in a tank or somewhere where it will stay at 24 degrees (or thereabouts) and put an airstone in it (make sure the airstone goes right to the bottom of the now inverted bottle so no eggs can settle on the bottom) then either make up a salt water mix to the correct salinity (im not sure how much salt to water you need as i use option two) or go get some saltwater from the sea (get the clearest water possible). Once you have your saltwater in the bottle and it is up to the correct temp them put half a teaspoon or so of BS eggs into the bottle, and 24 hours (or so) later, you have baby brine shrimp (bbs) To get them out of the bottle, turn the airstone off (or take it out) and wait for it to settle (about 10 minutes) the hatched eggs will be floating at the top, the unhatched eggs will have sunk to the bottom, and the hatched shrimp will be floating just above the unhatched eggs. I use a turkey baster and suck them out into another container, but you could syphon them out with a piece of airline or something if you wanted HTH
  17. They shouldnt be on pebbles like that though. they will eat them and they could easily get blocked up. They are much better in a tank with sand or large stones, or even a bare bottom tank They do look pretty nice though!
  18. Put lots of java moss into the fry tanks as they will feed off it. Brine shrimp only lasts like 4 hours or something in FW before it dies so thats not a good idea. Microworms last a few days in FW before they die so maybe put some of them in each fry tank too.....
  19. All you need to do with Kribs is put a male and female into the same tank together and they will breed

  22. oh haha never mind. just some cool little fish that i love haha
  23. Hey Just wondering what people think about putting my two hoplos in with my Demasoni (eventually to go into a 350L tank) Im thinking that the Hoplos will like the 350L tank better as it will allow them more room to roam (they are nutters) they are fine where they are now but it would be cool to chuck them into the bigger tank. Do you think they'd be sweet with the higher pH?? did a google search and a couple sites said that they are sweet in pH's 6-8 so sounds promising.... Opinions?
