  1. What should you do? Stop getting new fish and overstocking your tank even moreso than it already is
  2. 75 x 50, thats 3 x 2, so yea it will be fine
  3. Wrap the tank up with lots of blankets and everything you can find. Dont lift the lids and put a heater or something in the room with the tank. If it goes below 20-21 then the fish will start to suffer a bit, but should be fine down to that. Dont try to put hot water into it or anything, and once you get a new heater make sure you just let it bring itself up to temp again slowly. Dont change the temp fast as the fish will get stressed. they should be fine if you try heat the room and add lots of insulation around the tank
  4. mmm true. I sleep in my 'fishroom'
  5. I could take some off your hands in the future. Wouldnt mind 4 or 5 Zebras And im local to you Infact, could take fry too  Got lots of brine shrimp to feed em! 8)
  6. in the small tank? not sure, probably for another few months yet. They were originally in a 250 x 250 x 250 floating container i think Ryan said, so i didnt want to put them into much bigger and have them not be able to find food or something. I will probably put them into the big tank in a month or so though....
  7. Hailea is usually pretty crappy i think. The Waikato aquarium soc had a large hailea air pump to use at the fish show, but it was way too noisy and they had to get another one. Trying to steer clear of them, but i dont think the two i linked would be much better..... Mind you, you should hear the amount of noise the air pumps in my room at the moment make. 3 medium sized pumps to power my killie tanks, brine shrimp hatcherys and water ageing barrel is not quiet, but i still sleep well I just need more air!
  8. Got my sister to get me a coconut Found my holesaw kit and drilled a 1" or so hole in one side and took the milk and meat out, dunked it in boiling water for a few minutes, then gave it a scrub and a scrape. Have just put it into my community planted tank this evening and it looks cool
  9. They are the coolest fish EVER dixon! You should definately get some Yep, they sure have grown. The biggest ones are probably pushing 1.5 - 2cm now. Feeding them Sera Granumeat, Wardley and tetramin flake and BBS. I drop some microworms in every now and again too but i dunno if they eat them or not. Haven't seen alot of fighting as of yet, but im sure it will start soon! Good to hear you have more coming. Im sure you will sell them all! Im 90% sure that ill keep it all Demasoni, and will get more if i do that. Oh, i want to put my pair of Neolamprologus Brichardi in with them once they have grown up too. Hopefully in the big tank the Brichardi wont get beaten up.
  10. Got some alright pics of my Demasoni so thought i should share them Got them not long ago from Ryanjury (he is awesome, get Dems off him ) theres 18 of them Heres the tank they are in ATM (400 x 400 x 400) Has a tiger lotus and a clump of java fern, along with rocks and gravel substrate. Theres a stocking full of aragonite sand down the back to keep the pH up Heres some of the fish They are growing fast! They are destined for a 350L tank that will be full of rocks and will have some plants in it (java fern, anubias, tiger lotus and any other plants i have to spare) Not sure about tankmates yet; would like to make it just straight Demasoni, so might get another dozen or so at a later date 8)
  11. Has anyone had experience with either of these air pumps? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 231133.htm and http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 597657.htm I want to know how noisy they are and how grunty they are. Its a bit hard to know without hearing one, and feeling the output. Im wanting an air pump that will comfortably run 10 or so airstones Cheers
  12. Dancer17 is a member of the NZKA i think, and has been for a little while so she should be getting one anyway - Correct?
  13. found it! http://www.fishforums.com.au/viewtopic. ... 96c3621d89
  14. Yep one of the top planted tanks has it, and i do remember seeing how they made it, but i cant find it right now. I will keep looking. It was a very interesting idea!

    New Pleco

I use plant wieghts yea, but a mate used to chuck a huge piece of cucumber in his tank, and ram a screwdriver through the middle to keep it down
  18. LOL mark! Good to hear Malawiman, will feel much more comfortable doing it now Got microworms too (lots of em) sill see what they think of them too.....
  19. Ohk thats cool. I hatch mine in natural salt water yea, and i also feed it in the salt water aswell. I just take it out of the bottle with a turkey baster and put it into a little container, then i syringe it into the tanks. I dont bother rinsing it in freshwater first or anything. Dunno if i should or not but it hasnt harmed my fish before, with a little bit of saltwater with it
