  1. If you're after colour and action get some male guppies.
  2. My GBA's love Brusslle (sp?) Sprouts  and my BN love the uncooked stalks of Spinnish.
  3. Hi and welcome, I'd agree about getting that barb some friends, most species of barb really need to be in groups of 5 or so or they canget very nippy.
  4. What you don't want to see as a breeder. (This is why small breeding traps don't work very often.) Anybody know where I can get a nice deep trap like in this clip? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxQsZ2zH-Is A good clip of a guppy giving birth There are pleanty more clips on You Tube but I dug a couple out for you.
  5. Isolating them is a good idea, sometimes can take a while for them to recover after spawning, esp if being harrased by male guppies. They may come right.
  6. Welcome and good luck finding a blue frog, recessives are challanging but rewarding.
  7. When does this come into effect
  8. No "Hara" sub species... anybody know how to sex and breed dwarf moth catfish? (Hara Hara)
  9. There are clips of guppys giving birth on you tube if you've never seen it.
  10. Just back crossing some out crosses now, been working on diversafying and improving their genetic make up in an attempty to make them healthy and strong.
  11. LOL, you can't have washed it down with enough sake
  12. Good to hear that everybody enjoyed themselves. Sadly I couldn't get off of work but I was able to take part in the passport event... there is still some jellyfish on a stick if anybody wants some. Was great to meet you all and hope to see you all again next year if not sooner.
  13. Hi and welcome to the forum, very interesting collection you have there.
  14. Very cool . Is that the tank you had your hand in in the guppy thread?
  15. Plant, plant and more plant. Floating plant on the top, java moss on the bottom and more plant in the middle. That's the advise I was given when I started breeding guppies and for a beginner it's the best advice you can get. Over time you'll learn to pick when a female is going to drop etc bit that's the best way to start.
  16. As long as the white clouds don't jump
  17. Get a lid on the tank if you don't have already. I went to check on my BN babies last night and about 60 of them were playing "How high above the water line can I get?" hate to think what the game would have been if the lid had not been in place. Congrats btw
  18. Doctor Axelrod did it back in the 60's or 70's using artificial insemination, but the babies were all sterile and it doesn't happen naturally.
  19. Plants, lots and lots and lots of plants. About a year and a half ago I was going away for over a week and had nobody to look after my fish. I scored a whole heap of plant from my LFS and just chucked them all in the top of the tank. (No planting.) I created a layer about 6-7cm thick of plants at the top of the tank. When I cam e back I stared to remove some of the plant and found over 100 babies!!!
  20. How is the "Li'l pale-face" going?
  21. They can jump too, scary when they jump from the net in your hand to under another tank stand.
  22. B/N of various ages - Far too many to count GBA's - 9? Otto's - 3 Glass ghost catfish - 3 Hara Hara (Dwarf Moth Catfish) - 3 Panda Cory - 2
