Sorry for the caps, I saw you were in Chch and Gasmbusia are not believed to be in the south island at this stage. Seems smart to keep it that was.

    MosquitoFish

This is from: http://www.doc.govt.nz/templates/page.aspx?id=33409 What damage do they do? Gambusia populations quickly expand to outnumber other species. They attack native fish by nipping at their fins and eyes and prey on their eggs. Whitebait and mudfish species are especially vulnerable to Gambusia as they inhabit similar habitats.

DO NOT SHIP THEM!!! Not all of NZ is infected, but if we ship them around it will be. These little guys destroy their environment. They attack native fish and eat their eyes. These guys are little nasties. Lets not make it worse!
  5. Beautiful fish... will be very interesting to see what the offspring look like.
  6. So not an albino zebra pleco then....
  7. Well I still have 3 baby mollies, thats not a bad survival rate...
  8. Are these wild guppies from the same place as the wild mollies?
  9. Do they have that cool patterned lyre-tail like the one you posted above?? That and the orange would look just incredible on an albino  Addicted? Huh?? No idea what you're talking about.....
  10. They enforced that here last year Caper.... thus the debate topic.
  11. That Navarre shouldn't go out at night?
  12. I used to love debates. You don't have to agree with a point to rationalise it. All of the following is simply "of the cuff" but hope it helps. As for point 2, seriously, research nut allergies. _________________ Point 1: Democracy V’s Socialism. (Don’t forget to use the term “Nanny Stateâ€.) At the end of the day it is about democracy and freedom. It all boils down to the rights of the individual to make an independent & informed choice, the right of the retailer to display their product, and the right of the manufacturer to advertise the product they make. Point 2: Why target smokes? (Redirection.) There are far more dangerous things out there than cigarettes. Take peanut butter for example! Peanut butter, peanuts and nuts in general are a major health hazard to many, many people. They can kill people. Not only that but they kill fast… sometimes faster than an ambulance can get there. Yet so many of our day to day products are laced with these deadly ingredients, they are openly advertised and displayed EVERYWHERE. This is not only blatant negligence but plain disrespectful for the many, many people to whom nuts are poison!! Point 3: Taxation. (Yes, we’re getting political again.) Smokers support this nation! Smokers are so highly and ridiculously taxed… and then they pay GST on top of that! The revenue collected off of smokers is invested into Health, Education, and yes… even big black boats! (Americas cup has been a hot topic lately.) How do you think we’re going to pay for the Rugby world cup without smokers? _________________ Cheers, Keri Anne.
  13. Mine eat some but not all... strangely enough some colours are more likely to be eaten than others :-?
  14. Wow Cesarz.. would love to see that in Albino!
  15. So true!! Even seen them try it on with a clown loach
  16. I've done worse... No, details will not be supplied.
  17. Not tried it myself but from what I've read they should be fine together. Just make sure you keep the tank warm enough for the male guppies.
  18. Cesarz if you ever see any of 21 on that first link you know to PM me... right?
  19. So more than 1 phenotype is available? Cool. I wonder if these are from wild caught of facility breed? I guess there is almost no way of knowing.
  20. If you want to keep it small and colourful add some livebearers and some interesting tetras.
  21. Well my father is 53 and MTS is starting to kick in. He's had goldfish for a few years but I finally convinced him to set up a tropical tank last visit. He has also acquired a couple of "Project tanks" from in-organic collection which he plans on fixing up... Maybe next year I'll tell him what MTS is  Mind you with 2 dogs, 3 cats 2 rabbits and a vet nurse in training for a girlfriend maybe it should be MPS - Mutable Pet Syndrome
  22. To be honest I'm more interested in the guppies than the mollies too. Both would be cool though.
  23. Spare tanks are dangerous
