Yeah I don't cycle tanks either, I just take some media from a going tank and stock slowly and keep an eye on things.
I think the biggest thing with cycling a tank is to be aware of the process and what is happening in your tank so you know what to look out for and to do a few more water changes and not chuck a ton of fish in all at once.
Generally when the parents spawn again the fry are regarded as food or end up getting eaten so it is best to remove them if you want to keep them.. In the wild the parents would chase the fry off and they would go and find places to hide and grow up (or get eaten) but in our tanks they don't have the space to do this. I have seen fish that don't eat their older fry when they spawn again but the older fry will try and eat the younger ones and may get eaten/killed for this.
Sounds like something in the course details or message that was written resembled spam so got blocked.. I would try another provider, gmail or yahoo etc and see how you get on..
Sounds promising, the ones I have seen (and others who know what they are doing) have been definite males even smaller ones, so if you have picked out smaller uncoloured ones then there is still the chance of a sleeper male but fingers crossed for you guys
You could do demasoni but as others have suggested they are not good with peaceful community fish, you could do a dem/yellow tank in a 170l tank if you liked it (obviously assuming it is a standard long tank and not a tall one). Otherwise it sounds like your on the right track watch the dwarf gouramis they are prone to just dropping dead, honey gouramis are usually pretty good though.
Plenty of people overseas already doing this this is where our dragonsbloods and other random peacocks come from It would be cool to try and breed something new and try and fix it but it would take a long time and lots of tanks to get anywhere and you would question if it was all worth it, well I know I would
Maybe it is a different type of columnaris or the antibilotics aren't the right ones for the job? Here is a really good article on it and symptoms treatment etc..

lol have a look at davids video link in this section, if his guppies look like that they he doesn't need to do anything.. I think he knows what he is doing
Wow David those are some awesome fish! I am loving those full blacks, where did you get them all from? I have noticed some very nice ones in stores recently..
I have had a bristle nose out of the water for 8 hours and stuck its lifeless dried up body covered in carpet fur back into the tank, watch it start breeding upside down and then eventually recover and swim off as normal.
It depends on what has caused the dropsy and probably hundreds of other variables (species, how healthy the fish is, how old it is, temp, genetics, water parameters etc).
They tend to dig in (they flare out their fins and stuff to lock themselves into holes) when you remove them from the water, leave him to see if he comes out by himself if not you may have to get some diags and cut a bigger hole for him to get out.
The ones HFF ordered off the wholesale list were alto calvus yellows the ones nav just lost were from the same wholesaler. They were expensive but now you can't get them anywhere so how much is something u can't get anywhere else worth to you? HFF was the only store I heard about who took the risk on ordering them into stock (no doubt others ordered them stright in for customers) they are very slow growing and difficult to raise so that is the reason for the high price and size.
There are a few out there so hopefully in the next few years we will see more altos around..
As I said before gutted mate, they would have been the last of that batch that I know about.
Fruju getting more is easier said than done I have been hunting high and low for altos for ages now, the only thing I managed to find were gold heads and managed to convince someone to sell me a pair.. I have found a ton of redfins at a guys place but none are for sale. The calvus are even rarer (maybe because they are not actually an allowed import?) I do have a mate who recently brought another 1 and although initially we thought it was a male (he had a lone male) it is looking like it may be a girl and the 2 of them are getting along together so that would be awesome.. His ones most resembled the black variant too.. The yellows were on the brooklands lists a while back and I know that brooklands has local breeders so I am hoping that their local breeders still have these, I am hoping even more their breeders are able to breed them because it can be quite difficult to do. There are also rumours of a lady who has some calvus fry from a pair she had but she won't respond to me and verify if this is true or if she will sell any.
Fingers crossed on lots of fronts
