  1. Yes they're freshwater, from what I can tell if you can find one you'll be last on a huge list of people unless you get lucky.. Have also heard that although they're a very nice looking fish they do tend to hide alot so your lucky to see them.. Have a look here http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/l046-vt24492.html
  2. I thought it took around 3 days to hatch another week or so till free swimming? Of course it is all dependant on temp etc if they're dark with dots they're fertile so just be patient, if you want any to survive you can remove them and stick an airstone on them and hatch them yourself..
  3. L046 zebra pleco They are in NZ and there are rumours of them being bred, I have seen them sell for $1000+ on tradme, they used to be one of those mildly expensive pleco's in your LFS $100-200ea but they were overfishing them in their native lands and all exports etc got canned so now they're pretty rare and sought after internationally..

    What is it

Agreed there are at least 3 different types that I know about 2 of them came in with the later import list I have seen both types as adults and seen babies grow out true so who knows, it is exceptionally hard to sell/buy females of peacocks as you may have different variants..

If the filter is empty you shouldn't do it takes ages for the water to fill up the filter and come out the pipe..

Oic cant you start it at all? Order of stuff doesn't really matter, pays to stick the noodles in the middle and the coarsest media in first the finest last that way most of the crap gets picked up in the coarsest stuff and not your noodles and that.. Easiest way I find of getting my filters going is to hook it all up with the intake in the water have the fitler in place and empty, suck on the outlet pipe to get a syphon going through the filter, wait until the filter fills up with water and comes out through the outlet pipe shake it around a bit to make sure all the airs out of it then turn the taps off. Stick your outlet into the tank open the taps and plug it in, if it still doesn't start try and turn the filter on its side a little it can move the air around and get it going and hopefully blow all the air out.. Good luck!
  7. Geographical seperation Ie the fish live in different places, also it is believed that there are enough males and females of each species and there is alot of room there also the lakes are pretty big places compared to our little tanks where the fish pretty much have no option but to breed with whatever as they're all locked up together.. I am not sure any of these are valid suggestions but its what I think sounds feasible.. Of course like everything else it could happen and probably does to a small degree, hopefully the collectors know what they're doing and hybrids do have different traits..
  8. Here is our dogs as pup's.. Shadow - german sheppard x lab got him after he was abandoned (which is why he's skinny in these pics..) http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f183/ ... hadow1.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f183/ ... shadow.jpg And Jade golden retriever x hunteraway http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f183/ ... If there are bubbles there is a leak somewhere which is letting air in which airlocks the pump.. First you have to determine where the air leak is happening check all your pipes make sure they have no holes or if any joins are sweet, then go for all the unions etc undo them and push the pipe in more making sure its in there really good, open the filter and check any seals etc are in place and put it all together hopefully that fixes it otherwise you may have to order new seals or replace parts..
  11. Id say not crossed with yellow I don't see any yellow in that one, certainly weird especially the mouth.. Oh well doesn't really matter what the cross is as long as you know its a cross and dont attempt to breed from any of them or rename them and sell them on like others have done!
  12. Man thats one weird looking fish I can see blue dolphin in it but its not pure the shape is wrong.. Id go for a hybrid also sorry generally when you buy things as "blue zebra" that is all they are blue zebra's no sc. name etc it is good to post pics and see if anyone recognises them but I dont.. That is just my take on it maybe someone else has a differing opinion
  13. MTS is multiple tank syndrome when you start off with a few tanks and just get a few more and end up with heaps..
  14. Sweet as a side on pic will do or even a couple of other ones cant really tell what it is from that pic you've posted..
  15. Top 2 are zebra's probably hybrids so dont bother doing what others do and find pics all over the internet with random names and match them up.. Any chance of a better pic of the bottom one?
  16. My golds started spawning very young.. The female would have been only 2cmish the male around 3cm's, I just feed them on whiteworms and discus tucker weeklyish water changes and they breed probably every week and a half to 2 weeks, I still haven't managed to raise any babies but they lay and the eggs hatch all the time

I use the white stuff not from that guy but presume its the same stuff and its sweet works well Are you setting up the new tank?

    Oscars

Id say that angels or keyholes would be food for an oscar they get big and have big mouths and appetites..
  20. I have heard of some algae eaters sucking on the side of discus and hurting them I think bristlenoses are sweet but unsure on others..
  21. All the babies just cark it for various reason's I think im gradually correcting each error, the first couple of spawns died when the nights got colder and the fishroom dropped down to 23C overnight, the second couple died because I tried to feed them microworms and they are too big for them, the last spawn I think I overfed them on the nova baby I was using and fowled the tank, its just a mulititude of errors and its been a long time since ive breed anything sensitive like this so need to get my head around it again Africans are soo much easier. And I like my dragons blood too He's cool, and they breed like mad although I have to cull a few that aren't the right colour, I guess you get that with hybrids.

    What is it

Yep its a jacob a nice looking male too Pity its not up here mind you I already have some awesome ones just got to wait for them to colour up.
  23. Yeah I love all of them The gold rams are awesome im breeding all of the above fish so let me know if you want any in the future.. Have issues with the gold rams though I keep killing all their babies... My dragonsblood is getting there he's only around 1-2inches at the moment and nowhere near dominant in that tank so his colour will only get better
  24. Need a clearer pic when the fish is coloured up more really, maybe maleri? What did you buy it off and was it from a breeder or petshop?
  25. There isn't one we tried to start one but it died out and were just too busy with babies etc to sort it out or even make meetings and do all the work required..
