You have a good number of angels in there your tank is huge! The neons will most likely end up getting eaten by the angels though The fish are probably fighting because they will be reaching sexual maturity and starting to pair off in this sized tank you may get away with it but if you ended up with 6 pairs they wouldn't have much space left. Keep an eye on them and maybe remove the pairs (but more will form) or thin them out to 2-3pairs would be what I would suggest, but without seeing your tank and that impossible to tell for sure

And however has that strain probably spent alot of money getting it so fair enough the price per fish is relatively high, but as pointed out it is reasonable compared to LFS prices and the quality of the fish you are getting.

Convicts would be ok very proliffic but IMO not suitable for a feeder unless the fish you are feeding too is a good hunter as they have a habbit of surviving whereas most fish can catch a baby or half grown guppy All depends what you want to feed them too..

I think what jayci is trying to say is they are trying to track down some egyption mouthbrooders and they believe they maybe missing in NZ does anyone have any? And if anyone else is trying to track down a fish that used to be around and someone might have they can post too.. I haven't seen egyption mouthbrooders for ages hopefully someone has some! And I would like to see some Checkerboard cichlids Dicrossus filamentosus (Crenicara filamentosa) I used to keep them ages ago and haven't seen any around.. They should be able to breed and be sexable at that size, a good price is less than $10ea.

Just a question for Paul, did you breed these guys using the tank full of plants or did you seperate the males and females condition them up and stick them in a breeding net?

Good choice The good old guppy or even daphnia, whiteworms or mozzy larvae are good feeders too

To the best of my knowledge Gambusia are a noxious pest and keeping breeding or selling them can have you up for hefty fines..

I had huge issues keeping them a while ago too I went through probably 15 or so of them they had everything the right food, they were in with other fish that were all fine had driftwood etc etc etc, they were big fish when I got them too so who knows what happened to them? All I can say is that I perservered and eventually they started living and since them they have started breeding and I have 100's of them I know this doesn't help but is some assurance that you are not alone and it does pass.. I was convinced that bristlenoses were "my nemesis" and the fish that I just couldn't keep and I was destined to having algae filled tanks

I haven't actually that is the next plan to date this it the first time i've ever had any sort of ram survive more than 2 spawn's they usually keel over the first couple of spawns for no apparant reason so I decided to ensure I raised some by taking the egg's.. From now on ill just leave the pair in their own tank to it, the other pair ill take their eggs because they'll be fishfood anyway..

lol im more annoyed about the gold rams my foot will heal, ive been wanting to keep and breed golds for 10 years now I have 2 breeding pairs that lay fertile eggs that hatch but the babies keep dying

Lol the doc told me I wont be able to wear boots for a week so yeah might get time off work or they'll get me doing crapy jobs Rams suck I give up lol I have killed 8 spawn's of golds now and the blues well the female hasn't quite perfected asexual reproduction..

Just thought I would post some updated pics of Paige All is going well with her shes a perfect baby sleeping through most nights happy and laughing and smiling most the day makes it so easy for us Im sure this may change as she starts teething etc but not complaining so far

I dont have much going on and my fishroom is a bit of a mess at the moment wasting my foot doesn't allow me to clean it out like I had planned this week! Yes we tried to start it a while ago we thought to get members we would go for levin/wanganui/palmy and have meetings at our place, but as pointed out we have a young baby and we wouldn't be able to travel around without our daughter in the evenings or anything so it would be a hassle.. It is hard to get the numbers to justify it, As win pointed out its hard to get a shop behind a club they are out there to make money and all that and people in clubs are out to get stuff cheap also if they put up fliers in the shop they are seen to be supporting it and if anything bad happens or someone doesn't like it it may come off badly towards the shop.. If there was sufficient interest I will join and help out but with baby and my fishroom overseas trips from work and that dont really have much spare time to do too much.

Might call through at some stage will be in touch my mum lives in Hawera and she should probably see her granddaughter at some stage :roll: How long have you had it going now? I would do what a friend has done in his fishroom and plumb it all in with large piping and small ones coming off for filters, obviously dont want something unrelialbe as it will be running filters and dont want them to stop!

Did you have that same model or an equivalent one from a different trader? I know its cheap does anyone have any better options? I do like a bargain and appreciate you get what you pay for but prefer to go for something that will last a while not something thats soo cheap it craps out straight away.. Noise isn't an issue the fishroom is a lined section of the external garage price and performance are what matter

And before anyone asks I feel like a dumbass what a stupid way to hurt yourself feeding the fish..

lol whats wrong with the sellers name.. Seems a bit weird to me if they sell good products and have good feedback and have what you want then go for it
